FT| port 2-3
@Lavvyfc
.
We fought tooth and nail but it wasn’t to be. Fair play to
@Lavvyfc
who fought us every step of the way and just beat us to it. Every player at Newport hold your heads up high, you’ve done us proud all season ❤️
Last night a rare occurrence happened in our match against
@Andovertownfc
. For a player to make 400 appearances for a club is rare. For two players to make 400 is exceptional. To do it in the same match is extraordinary. Take a bow Martin McDonagh and Gary Streeter.
So this little lad was there on one of the biggest days in our club’s history, with his dad
@Mounty57
, now he’s part of one of the biggest days in
@England
football history. Good luck

Finishes 4-0 here to Port and a superb, solid performance from our lads. As always, to the death we were still goal hungry and closing down anything our opponents threw at us. MOTM tough again today, really hard to pick between you, we’re going for Hanc and Hughesy….. UTP 💛💙
Everyone at Newport Football Club is deeply saddened by the passing this week of long term volunteer, committee member and supporter, Arthur Downer. Arthur was more than a volunteer for the club, he was a friend to everyone. We send our sincere condolences to Arthur's family.
Although it's no consolation, well done to
@usportsmouthfc
who finished top, whichever way you look at it. Same for
@AlresfordTown
from the Premier, who were also top when the final whistle blew.
Yellows yellows yellows!!!!!!!! Finishes 3-2 and what an incredible victory by our superb players, never gave up from start to finish, absolutely fantastic lads!!!!!
Congratulations to Joe McCormack who last night made his 250th first team appearance for
@Newport_IW_FC
. (247 starts and 3 sub).
@Tottonkeeper
. Other player milestones coming soon.Many thanks to Peter Ranger for meticulous record keeping
Bringing home the bronze!!! IOW win 2-1 this afternoon, both goals scored by Joe Craig! What an amazing achievement for our island team, we’re so proud of every one of you players and management… now go get on the beers 🍻
@IslandMens
Jordan Browne returns for the new season at the Port. The consistent striker scored 14 last season before the it was cut short and was on target to beat the 16 he scored the season before.
Contrary to speculation, the club are delighted to announce that we will be remaining a Wessex side for the coming 2023/24 season, managed by Steve Brougham.
Our reserve team, led by Stew Shepherd, has also been accepted into the Island League, which is further fantastic news.
Everyone at the club is devastated to hear the news of the passing of our friend John ‘Simmo’ Simpkins. Our thoughts are with his family; an absolute legend and a sad day for Island football 😞💛💙
Last season Connor Kelly netted 23 times from 28 starts in the Wessex. He has signed for another year and can't wait to pull the yellow and blue shirt on.
We win 4-3 on penalties to progress to the next round. Brilliant performance from leon pitman in the penalty shootout. Best wishes to
@WarminsterTnFC
for the rest of the season 🙌
Steve Brougham and Stewart Shepherd are pleased to announce that Gary Streeter has joined their Management Team.
The veteran keeper will part of the Management Team which includes both Joint Managers and coach Andy North.
Gary will continue to play and fight for the no. 1 shirt.
Left Back extraordinaire, Neo Lamb returns to score some more amazing goals. This boy doesn’t do ordinary, only left foot 30 yard volleys will do. Scored 4 goals last season from 23 starts, not a bad return for a “defender”.
Finishes 4-1 here and what an outstanding performance from every single Port player out there today, and the management team. Still no idea who scored the first but who cares!! MOTM for Butch… in the words (ish) of the Macarena they all want him, they can’t have him!!! UTP 💛💙
The club are really pleased to confirm the signing of Nicky Vyse, who manager Broughie has been after since the Summer. Nicky’s workrate & skill up front have made him a popular target, but he’ll be wearing yellow & blue this season, what a player to add to the squad…. UTP 💛💙
We are pleased to say that we return to FA Cup action this season after a 3 year absence.
We are also in the FA Vase. The draw for the early rounds of both competition will be made next Friday.
Physio Matt Ohren continues to look after our players. Matt is a fully qualified Physiotherapist working in the local NHS and we are proud to have him at Newport. We thank you Matt for the work you do not just for our team but the whole community.
Finishes 2-3 and absolutely superb from Port today, every player gave their all; all us supporters are blown away by your spirit and fight, especially after last week…. 3 points has never felt so good….captain fantastic Marty you were outstanding….UTP 💛💙
What a day! Thank you everyone for making it such a wonderful occasion; organisers, sponsors, supporters, especially those who travelled from the mainland, officials and both sets of players who were class throughout 💛💙❤️🤍
@SouthamptonFC
Newport face Follands tomorrow in our play off semi final in what is set to be one of the biggest games of our season.
We have worked so hard to be in this position and come into the game off the back of 7 straight wins, in both league and cup campaigns.
Finishes 3-2 here and some racing hearts at the end….!! Great first half, Andover stepped it up second but we held on to take all three points.
Superb defending again, and wow, that goal by Joe C 😂😂😂😉
MOTM Scott B today, solid and dependable again….. UTP 💛💙
It finishes 6-1 here, we’re all freezing but we’re off to the pub happy. Verwood pushed and pushed all game so hats off to them. Butch hat-trick and man of the match…. UTP 💛💙
Finishes 1-4 here and another superb display from our lads, even with ten men we looking solid and composed. Head up Leon, you kept us in it first half with some great stops. MOTM goes to Ryan Hughes, every touch and challenge was pure class, fantastic today all of you UTP 💛💙
Final score here in front of a crowd of 198 is 5-1 to Port, Jordy deservedly taking MOTM for his hat-trick, & being recognised for 100 goals. A great opening game & a superb all round team performance. Hats off to Lymington who pushed us to the end, safe journey home….. UTP 💛💙
Final score 7-1 and what a performance from Port today, every player absolutely playing their socks off, fantastic, what a credit you are to us…..UTP 💛💙
The club are hugely saddened by news late this week that one of our faithful, Glen Stoddart, has passed away. Glen was a massive part of our club; he was the voice cheering from the stands, the laughter on our away trips and meant so much to everyone at Newport.
Joe Craig remains a Newport player for the season ahead. 11 goals from 21 appearances last season, Joe will be an essential component of Andy Sampson's strike threat.
Full time here just as the heavens open and Port take all three points with a 1-0 win. Plenty of chances second half that we just couldn’t convert, but a great performance from our team, gritty and determined and a well earned win.

2. Outsiders will not know how good a result that is. Let down by minibus 10 mins before departure. 4 cars quickly arranged, ferry quickly changed, arrived on time for teamsheet and kick off. 4 young players making their first team debut.
Finishes 2-0 Port, well deserved 3 points. Clanfield came out strong second half but we soaked up the pressure and stepped up a gear after we scored the second, well played lads…. UTP 💛💙
Andy Sampson will be leading the charge this season after his team was stopped in its tracks last season whilst unbeaten in 2020. Andy is confident the squad can keep going from where they left off and push for promotion this season.
Final score 2-5 to Newport. Call me biased, but we were superb today. Every player gave 100%. We keep playing like that we are gonna be tough to beat this season..... UTP
Finishes 1-4 to Newport and a superb team effort. Andover are always guaranteed to give us a tough game and that was no different tonight, but our lads were outstanding. With ANS looking on they might be re-thinking their game plan for Saturday…. A team MOTM tonight..UTP!!! 💛💙
Finishes 2-0 here and a really good effort from Port who worked tirelessly throughout. All credit to Hamworthy, great hosts and some really good banter. MOTM goes to Matt Oatley….. UTP 💛💙
Finishes 0-3 here and a superb performance from Port…. Work rate was outstanding, not once did we let a ball go without challenging and the movement between the players was some of the best I’ve seen….
It finishes 1-1 and we’ll take a point from that. The lads dug deep 2nd half and soaked up a lot of pressure. The game was played at 100mph from start to finish and there were plenty of talking points…….. Well done lads, good team work and a never say die attitude…. UTP 💛💙
Finishes 1-3 here to Port and a massive three points. Quiet periods in the game but goals when it counted, two from MOTM Kelly Connor on his debut….. UTP 💛💙
We are really pleased to confirm the signing of central midfielder Harri Taylor, who wraps up a great trio of signings since the weekend. Good to have you with us Harri….. UTP 💛💙
Two more milestones achieved this week by our players. On Tuesday night Spike Pearce made his 200th
@Newport_IW_FC
appearance against
@ecvafc
and on Saturday Liam Triggs made his 200th appearance against
@Whitchurchutd
.Congratulations lads.
Pleased to say that our Reserve team have been accepted to play in the new Hampshire Combination /Development League for the coming season. We will be placed in one of the two Saturday Leagues (East or West).

Harrison Yates returns for his fourth season in the Wessex after coming through the club youth system. The combatative midfielder is adding to his game every season.
A bumper crowd braved the chilly air to see Newport come out victorious in the local derby. Two goals from Joe C see us take all three points and maintain bragging rights over Vics.
To their credit, our hosts were no pushover and will do well under their new manager.
