Update: I just talked with Steve Finch, I am pleased to report his surgery went well, recovery going well. He expects to be home later today, continued prayers for Steve and his family.

Nelson Co athletics would like to give a big shout out to our Cheeleaders and Dance team as they made the trip to Henry Co last night to support the football Cards.
With completion of last nights district final, NC pitcher Aubrey Robbins recorded her 200 strikeout for the season. The NC school record is 222 by Daisha Hart in 2002.

Nelson Co athletics would like to wish good luck to our 5th Region partner Elizabethtown HS girls soccer team as they prepare to play in the KHSAA state finals.
What a game and last minute drive by the Cardinals capped off by Paul Briney TD with 4 seconds left. Nelson will now host a playoff game when the KHSAA playoffs begin in 2 weeks.
Cardinal baseball defeats Bethlehem last night for a huge district win. Cards host Washington Co on Monday for the districts number 1 seed. Good luck Cards.

A huge S/O to Nelson Co Anna Simpson, she finished in 8th place at the Kentucky 2A state golf tournament on Monday. Great job Anna. Good luck at regional play.
Lady Card Volleyball just qualified for the Ky 2A state volleyball tournament held on the Ky Wesleyan Colleges campus. Tournament to be played September 9-10. More details coming.
Prior to the Nelson Co basketball game tonight we had a moment of silence and prayers for all the families that have experienced tragedy this past week.
Congrats to Nelson Co volleyball coach Derek Roby. Coach was just named the Ky Volleyball Coaches Association, KVCA, coach of the year in the 5th Region. Congrats from Card Nation.
The first KHSAA softball stats were released. Nelson Co pitcher Aubrey Robbins rank 4th in the state in strikeouts with 91K’s. She is averaging 14.48 strikeouts per 7 innings. Think about this feat, there are 21 outs in a HS softball game, she is responsible for over 14 per game.
Coach Stockdale and his staff held their mother/son football camp today at NCHS. 28 moms showed up today for skill instruction, competitions and the highlight was donning the football pads to tackle their son. Awesome event, Go Cards.

DYK: Nelson Co football ranks 2nd in the state in 4A in team rushing. The Cards have rushed for 2134 yards in 8 games. That’s an average of 267 yards rushed per game. Go Cards.
In preps baseball, from sunny Florida. Nelson Co finished the spring break trip with a 3-1 record. Lost to Crestview HS last night 3-2. Safe travels home.

In district preps baseball: Nelson Co travels to cross town rival Bardstown HS and defeats the Tigers in a DH, scores 8-7, 9-2. That’s two big district wins for the Cardinals.
