@TeamGB
@campbellclaret
When they get invited to No.10 as they surely will, I hope they do exactly what the England football team did, and refuse to attend. It would be the greatest snub to a supposed Prime Minister who has lied through a pandemic and caused multiple deaths.
We were all in the Rotterdam press box 30+ years ago to witness England being cheated by the Dutch who also broke Gaza’s cheekbone at Wembley in the spring. Karma is a real bitch. RIP Graham Taylor. A
@AVFCOfficial
striker won it as well. ⚽️😍
Bumped into a still-glum
@RafaelNadal
in the lobby of his Melbourne hotel this morning. He was heading for his MRI. Typically he asked me how I was. There is nothing about the man you cannot love
#RafaNadal
Watching this Government ‘commercial.’ Didn’t Angela Merkel explain this on her own, succinctly a month ago? We’re so far behind it’s scary however BoJo tries to make it look as if we’re seeing the light.
@campbellclaret
Just listened to Wake Up To Money. Discussed lack of HGV drivers and food on supermarket shelves, lack of drinks at McDonalds and didn’t mention the B word once. 🙄🙄
The Premier League condemning a group of clubs for breaking away is ever so itsy-bitsy hypocritical. Those of us there in 1991 remember how the top clubs trod the rest of the FL into the dust without a moment’s hesitation.
@piersmorgan
But you’re not informing people of what is happening. That’s the job of the Chief Medical Officer and the Chief Scientific Advisor who was on
@BBCr4today
this morning giving a cogent, articulate reasoned account of the present situation. Not shouting at people on Twitter.
@GaryLineker
@VirgilvDijk
Ridiculous to attempt a tackle given his body position Gary. Took the player out. You’d have been demanding a free kick had it happened to you!
A year ago today, about 7.45am, I was cut down by a stroke. It’s been a tumultuous time. Thankful for family, who have been amazing, friends and simple well-wishers. I’m still here fighting with God’s grace. Plenty still to do which I’ll give my best shot. Very reflective day
Had a few fascinating press conference jousts with Andy Murray. My favourite was at RG a few years back. He survived a five set 1st round. I said: 'Can't you stop yourself playing so many drop shots?' He replied: 'Can't you stop yourself asking stupid questions.'
@andy_murray
That day in Crandon Park I was first introduced to
@RafaelNadal
we kicked a tennis ball around on a first floor balcony. It was 2005. He was two months from a 1st grand slam title. Now he has 19. Yet I still see this young kid, humble, kind, content, thrilled. What a champion.
I know
@JeffStelling
was a very hard act to follow but bugger me
@SoccerSaturday
is absolutely unwatchable these days. Host who's all over the place, gibbering reporters [with the odd exception]. Mike Dean totally disinterested.
How is Chris Mason not the BBC’s political editor? He’s absolutely brilliant, most especially when he has to ad-lib with authority. Reminds me of the finest football and tennis writers on deadline with only a phone and notebook for company. We spoke the story down a phone line.
@campbellclaret
@UKLabour
@LibDems
@DominicRaab
The anti-Redwood sentiment is growing in my constituency Alistair and quite properly. If the Greens stood aside, it would happen for the LibDems, it is that close....
I just read an article by Sarah Vine in
@MailOnline
about Third World Britain that fails to mention grubby, lying, corrupt politicians, tax-dodging newspaper owners, ridiculously patronising columnists and of course Brexit as root causes. So far wide of the mark its laughable.
@darrenrichman
Lovely man Peter. He and Bryon Butler, his BBC colleague were the very essence of quiet, dignified authority and beautiful commentators. God rest their souls. Now we have Robbie Savage filling the airwaves. Heaven help us....
@CBSNews
@owen_g
My God. This man remains so presidential. What the hell has the USA done to replace a great man with a total imposter? History will judge this abomination.
@SecretFire79
On Sunday, a priest celebrated Mass at our church for the first time. I thanked him afterwards for his wonderful homily. He asked me about my condition and I told him I’d had a stroke. He placed his hand on my shoulder and said: ‘Strength to Strength.’ I felt God’s presence. 🙏💪
@GaryLineker
You’re utterly right Gary. If there is the remotest chance the season can be completed with sensible, acceptable conditions, embraced by all and scientifically manageable, it should be attempted. However long it takes. Next season means next. Not now.
@MarinaHyde
Your point about the grand slams so well made Marina. Behind the mask of camaraderie is a terrible shade of oneupmanship and nastiness that would melt an iceberg. The new FFT president just made a press statement about Osaka and refused to take questions. Quelle hypocrite!
@SkyJacquie
@reallorraine
@ameliaabeltrao
I remember my wife and I sitting down in the living room in 2007 to tell our kids who were 14 and 9 at the time that she had breast cancer. The hardest moment of my life. So thankful we’re all still here 13 years later. And so will you be Jacquie ❤️❤️💪💪
An astoundingly beautiful service in Wimbledon today for my old pal and travelling companion Mike Dickson. His children spoke so movingly. The tone was perfect. Not a single pew empty. He’d have been so very proud. Your round in heaven Dicko. 🙏🎾🍷
How can I not be proud as punch of this? Was asked to referee the final practice match for
@wwfcofficial
then told by Gareth Ainsworth to join the boys [and Aly] for a team picture to celebrate the
@EFL
play-offs. It has been an incredible, unforgettable season.
@campbellclaret
In all seriousness Alistair, why aren’t there concerted calls for this idiot to stand down? He’s playing with the country’s health and no-one in a position to call for his resignation seems prepared to step up and say so.
@GaryLineker
I’m spending a blessed season in League One. Honest teams, crap refs, hysterical managers, boisterous fans, nonsense goals, bravery, brilliance, bolts from the blue. Just as it used to be watching you Gary. No VAR in sight. Football in the raw. I recommend it.
@campbellclaret
@johnredwood
As a current resident of Redwood’s constituency but someone brought up in Leigh-on-Sea, a fishing village and grew to know fishing folk, I find this imbecile’s continuing rants about fishing deeply offensive. He doesn’t have a bloody clue.
To
@RafaelNadal
my heartfelt congratulations on an 11th
@rolandgarros
I am truly blessed to know him, his family, and his team. He is an absolute gentleman. I wouldn’t be surprised if he wins Wimbledon too.
I wished with all I had Wycombe had stayed up this season. I know the club received numerous apologies from officials/assessors after reviews of decisions against them. Cost at least a dozen points. Losing first 7 left a hill too steep to climb. They'll be back, better
#COYB
@Mike_Dickson_DM
My pal. A confidant, supporter, terrific journalist, press box companion, social chum in so many places across the world, knew his stuff, doyen of the British group. This has hit me like a thunderbolt. Much love to Lucy and the children. I really don’t know what else to say 🎾😢
@NeilClark66
@cjsnowdon
I know of a girl who went to a test centre on Friday, spent hours in the queue and finally left without having having been tested. The next day she received a text saying she’d tested positive. How many more examples of this are there??
@BorisJohnson
You’ve been utterly hopeless from the moment you failed to attend the first four Cobra meetings on the virus. You’ve NEVER had the best interests of the population at heart, only your own self-aggrandisement. A charlatan of a ‘Prime Minister’. Do us all a favour and step aside.
I don’t know if I’m the only one but after Johnson exonerated Cummings I simply stopped listening to him. He’s an emperor with no clothes. No one believes or trusts anything he says anymore. We have no leadership. Britain is absolutely buggered.
I wrote a book about
@wwfcofficial
two years ago. I stand by every word. I really hope they are promoted to the Championship for so many reasons, the best of all is they are a lovely group of people who deserve everything they receive. 💙💙
US Open is sponsored by Moderna vaccine.
US Open Director, Stacey Allaster, is on Board of Directors of Laver Cup, owned by Federer.
US Open and USTA actively refused to apply for exemption for Novak, while allowing unvaccinated Americans to play.
Sitting car park at The Bull in Bisham thinking of the man on the left. Steve Curry and I travelled the world, he of the Express, me of the Mail, rivals yes but friends first. We had tons of laughs, worked and played hard, whether writing, drinking, golfing. Loved him. Bye Steve
@piersmorgan
The first to die was actually last week, Dr Habib Zhadi, in intensive care at Southend Hospital. He was my family’s GP from the 60s to the noughties and tended to both my parents in their last days. It was the saddest of moments when I heard the news.
Margaret Findlay, official joint owner of Denman,mother of Harry and Gordon, has passed away peacefully. An extraordinary character in life and in latter years in the racing fraternity. A lot of very sad people today

You should ask one question. If you think the answer is unacceptable, you reserve the right to a follow-up. That was how it has and always should be. Then it’s the next person’s turn.
It is to the eternal shame of tennis that there is not a single UK TV outlet taking the last
@DavisCup
final in its present format. The event was formed in 1900 as an alliance between the USA and GB. It is a magnificent international event, now soured by money-grabbers.
At the end of the second set today, John Inverdale dismissed Fernando Verdasco's challenge against Kyle Edmund, which showed a complete lack of any tennis understanding. I'm amazed he's still allowed to commentate.
Officially available from tomorrow. A month on from the end of the season at a near-empty Wembley Stadium and it's still a bit of a blur.

My dear old [but reasonably dull] Dad [who passed 40 years ago] would never have gravy on his favourite boiled potatoes and would miraculously wake on Saturday evenings in his favourite armchair immediately the Match of the day theme tune came on.
@ChrissieEvert
Chrissie: they went to California to escape publicity and then agree to do a ‘tell-all’ special with Oprah and open-top bus ride with James Corden. I’m afraid they’re making a mockery of demanding privacy while perpetuating their ‘brand.’ They can’t have it both ways.
@NBCNews
Can anything be more absurdly hypocritical and appallingly nauseating as this from a man who has never attended church regularly and failed to sing a single hymn or pray properly at the funeral of George HW Bush? The man is truly loathsome
@halfadams
Exactly who do you think you are? My family and many others have reason to be eternally grateful for the Royals and the service they’ve given to this country. Butt out.
Alan Mills, the

referee for over 20 years in the 80s and 90s has passed away at the age of 88. He and
@Mike_Dickson_DM
were good mates, the considerable age difference notwithstanding. What a horrible week for British 🎾 😢😢🍷
Watched the Euro sf in the company of this legend of a commentator, Mike Ingham of

at his home in Looe, Cornwall to where he’s retired. We relived some great memories of times and travels past, long lost friends and plenty of England matches

I've never been one for hyperbolic TV commentary but this is a remarkable FA Cup semi final and Lee Dixon sounds as if he's reading the telephone directory.
