A year ago today, about 7.45am, I was cut down by a stroke. It’s been a tumultuous time. Thankful for family, who have been amazing, friends and simple well-wishers. I’m still here fighting with God’s grace. Plenty still to do which I’ll give my best shot. Very reflective day

That day in Crandon Park I was first introduced to @RafaelNadal we kicked a tennis ball around on a first floor balcony. It was 2005. He was two months from a 1st grand slam title. Now he has 19. Yet I still see this young kid, humble, kind, content, thrilled. What a champion.

@piersmorgan The first to die was actually last week, Dr Habib Zhadi, in intensive care at Southend Hospital. He was my family’s GP from the 60s to the noughties and tended to both my parents in their last days. It was the saddest of moments when I heard the news.

It is to the eternal shame of tennis that there is not a single UK TV outlet taking the last @DavisCup final in its present format. The event was formed in 1900 as an alliance between the USA and GB. It is a magnificent international event, now soured by money-grabbers.

Alan Mills, the @Wimbledon referee for over 20 years in the 80s and 90s has passed away at the age of 88. He and @Mike_Dickson_DM were good mates, the considerable age difference notwithstanding. What a horrible week for British 🎾 😢😢🍷
