CSR suffers from its own kit. Astral Barrage is the best attack in the game. 120 BP 100 Acc spread, special so it doesn't need Clear Amulet, great neutral typing. With the best speed stat and Grim Neigh CSR has the means to spam its button. The problem is it's a one trick pony.🧵

if vgc is playing 500 player regs and paying $70 entries we deserve day 2 swiss at our events. top 32 cut is a joke, as is 10 rounds of swiss. if you're going to jack up the prices this high, give us a better product. day 2 swiss is epic, and only getting it at ICs is a shame.

Got 2nd/465 in the VR tour! Lots didn't go my way in finals but i had some breaks earlier and it's better to get lucky early than late. I only signed up to test out some ideas (i couldn't play all 9 rounds of swiss yday) so i didn't have high hopes of cashing, but we take those.

In reg G, your uber has to be the carry. Over the course of a 14 round regional, you're going to play good and bad matchups, but you have to rely on your carry to get you there regardless. On stream R7, Jose Torres couldn't bring CSR into Rajan's double normal comp, so he lost.

A note on Miraidon: I think it is in a similar boat to CSR. The field had relatively low numbers of Rillaboom, Raging Bolt, etc which allowed Rajan and Aaron to clean up. CSR could do the same in a friendlier meta, and I'd be shocked to see Miraidon win Stockholm this weekend.

The best coverage moves to pair with Ghost offensively are Fighting or Fairy. Both options are near unresisted. The issue is the devs know this, and gave CSR no powerful moves of either type. The best option is Draining Kiss, a 50-60 BP move which is a utility healing move.

fresh format for worlds made this event so much more fun to prepare for. combined with OTS, vgc is in a better spot game-wise than it ever has been before. the organization leaves something to be desired but don’t let that distract from the fact that the game itself is amazing.

Calyrex's movepool brings little complementary coverage to the table. Its Psychic typing largely overlaps with Ghost. EForce is ok, but it's terrain reliant and stacks weaknesses. Pollen Puff can hit a few Dark types, but most relevant Dark types take neutral damage from it.

Personally, I think CSR is going to shine in GS Cup (two ubers per team). If it does not have to hard carry every game, it can focus more on picking its spots to snowball with Astral Barrage. For Reg G, expect self sufficient carries like CIR, Kyogre, & Terapagos to see success.

The bar for making top cut is 11-3, and hoping that 78% of your swiss opponents drop their counterplay is the choice you make when you load up CSR at a regional. It's a viable take; it's probably not the right call when CSR is also the most used restricted.

The reaction against Ian that I've seen from the community of "don't narc" is a really bad look. Asking for wins is an instant dq, everyone knows it and absolutely should be that serious of an offense. The rules apply to everyone. Being a top player doesn't change that.

Instead of trying to use a weak move to cope through bad matchups, the 4 best performing CSR at Indy opted to use NP + Psychic stab. This option looks to lean into its strengths in good matchups. The issue is that it's not the right way to play a mono restricted VGC regional.
