Here is the 11 AM HST update on Hurricane Hone. Tropical storm conditions are expected to continue on the Big Island into the early afternoon. Winds and rain may gradually diminish over the Big Island during the evening hours.
Hurricane Hone is passing south of Big Island through early Sunday morning.
Hone's main threats to the state continue to be the potential for heavy rainfall leading to flooding, damaging winds and large surf along east-facing shores.
Hone has strengthened into a Hurricane with the latest forecast, located about 110 miles south of Hilo and 270 miles southeast of Honolulu at 11pm HST this evening.

Hurricane-force winds extend outward up to 15 miles from the center and tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 125 miles.

At 8PM HST the center of Tropical Storm Hone was located by US Airforce Hurricane aircraft moving toward the west at 15 mph. The max sustained winds were measured at 70 mph with higher gusts.
