🎊 It’s my 10 year anniversary of
@NNweather
!
A decade of Northamptonshire weather has flown by. We’ve seen storms, tornadoes, droughts, 40°C, floods & a beast from the east.
I really appreciate you for following so thank you & here’s to the next 10 years of weather.🎉
Jamie.
As the shopfronts get boarded up along the Kettering Road in Northampton this Wednesday afternoon I hope you all keep safe back in Northampton and the evening ahead passes without incident.

Abington Park in Northampton looking more like a rubbish tip at sunrise this morning after yesterday’s warm weather.
If you’re visiting any outdoor space in the county today do us all a favour and take your litter away with you.
A massive thank you to the staff
@NGHnhstrust
in both A&E and on Disney Ward who’ve looked after, cared and made my 7 yr old son better after a nasty little accident yesterday. Well earned respect after seeing some of the conditions & pressures the staff are working under.
The next few months, perhaps even the year or so ahead, will see all of our daily lives & routines change.
I’ll keep bringing you your daily county weather updates as we make our way through this health emergency.
Look after yourselves & look after others.
Jamie.

If you’re checking the

app or website this morning and think there’s a hurricane on the way then, as a legendary forecaster once said, ‘don’t worry, there isn’t’.
Good evening
#Northamptonshire
.
A second lockdown looms for the county but one thing will continue as before and that’s the weather.
I’ll keep bringing you your daily updates as we head through November into winter 20/21.
I wish you & yours well. Stay safe.
Jamie.
Good morning

After today our days will get longer for the next 181 days until the 21st June 2018 when sunrise will be at 4.41am & the sun will set at 9.28pm.
Empty streets in
#Northampton
town centre today but 9 years ago there were plenty of people around and it was Supergran (Ann Timson) & her shopping bag that saved the day........
Covid has got the better of me, in not such a good way, so I’ll be taking a break from Twitter until I’m not feeling so ‘under the weather’.
Tweet you soon.
It’s time for me to sign off for a while as the coast of Cornwall beckons with cream teas & pasties firmly in my sights.
Weather updates will return on Monday the 8th of August.
Look forward to tweeting you then!

⚠️ The Northampton Washlands this morning has reached capacity which has caused the ‘Danger to Life’ Severe Flood Warning to be issued for Billing Aquadrome, areas of Riverside Business Park and parts of Crow Lane Industrial Estate.
The full moon tonight is a

It’s also know as the

Boat owners are currently being rescued from their narrowboats on The River Nene near Morrisons in Northampton due to the fast flowing nature of the river which is also overtopping its banks.

You can see the travel of the tornado with debris being sucked up high into the air before falling to the ground again.
Not often we see the Northern Lights from here in Northamptonshire but last night some areas in the county got a glimpse.
Steve managed to capture the Aurora Borealis around midnight.

The posters were put up on Monday
They could have distracted drivers on Tuesday
The council were taking them down by Wednesday
And on Thursday and Friday and Saturday
They were all gone on Sunday
This was the queue at Northampton ‘Accident & Emergency’ earlier today.
The heat next week will exacerbate the demands on the health services in the county which are already under severe strain.
🛫 It’s time for me to jet off in search of sun, sea and mojitos so weather updates will return on Monday the 19th of August.
Look forward to tweeting you then!

Good evening

After a week away on the Cornish coast near Newquay it’s back to the shire to resume your daily weather updates as summer 2022 continues.
It will be a long, emotional and bumpy ride, but we will get back to normality at some point.
Through all of this there is one thing that will continue as before & that’s the great British weather & that’s what I will continue to focus on.
I wish you and yours well.
Jamie.
Whilst out on a evening bike ride it appears that the potholes on Clarke Rd near the BP garage in Northampton have been marked awaiting repair.
It appears the marker has displayed some artistic licence on one particular pothole.
The tornado on Saturday evening causing damage to the allotments at Moulton on the outskirts of
#Northampton
at approx 8.15pm.
Based on this evidence the tornado could well be rated at T2 intensity (the scale goes from T0 to T10) which would give wind speeds between 73 - 92mph.
It’s the

tomorrow which also means it’s the shortest day of the year.
Sunrise will be at 8.11am & the sun will set at 3.52pm.
It’s then 98 days until the clocks spring forward 1 hour on March the 29th 2020 when sunrise will be at 6.43am & sunset at 7.33pm.

Driving around Northampton I have to play a not fun game of ‘avoid the potholes’.
Driving without swerving is proving difficult as road surfaces deteriorate & rain disguises the potholes as puddles.
Billing Rd from the hospital to Billing Rd East is particularly bad!
25 years ago today I was standing here on the A43 at J15a of the M1 at Northampton watching the Princess Diana funeral procession.
The footage then shows the vehicles driving along Bants Lane in Duston, through Lower Harlestone before arriving at Althorp.
I’m off for a few days to relax and enjoy the food, sun and sea in Turkey.
Your local weather forecasts will return on Thursday the 24th of August.

I’d like to thank you for following this account along with your reports from the county during 2023.
I hope you continue to find it useful & I wish you all a peaceful 2024.
Here’s to the year ahead & all the weather it brings.
So sad and shocked to hear the news about the death of Steve Wright. Loved his shows on the radio as I was growing up through the 80’s and into the 90’s & still enjoyed his shows to this day.
Rest in peace Steve, you absolute professional. 📻🎧
🚨BREAKING NEWS🚨
The
@metoffice
climate station at Pitsford measured a maximum temperature of 40.2°C yesterday making it the hottest day ever recorded in the county following the previous record high temp of 38.2°C measured on Monday.
Just 0.1°C below the UK’s max temp!
It’s just 4 weeks today until we lose GMT and British Summer Time arrives once more.
Sunrise on Sunday the 26th of March will be at 6.53am and the sun won’t set until 7.26pm.
Seeing a video on Twitter today of a older lady putting a phone thief in a headlock in London reminds me of our very own ‘Supergran’, Ann Timson, who made the headlines 13 years ago (February 2011) in Northampton town centre.
If you slept through the thunderstorms in the early hours of this morning then well done!
Here’s a radar grab from 1.45am showing the extent of the downpours with the location of lightning at that time and the preceding hour.
Several large fires being reported in various parts of the country today.
Some awful scenes here on Sky News where the fire brigade are being stretched due to 4 separate fires in the area.
Not to be taken literally as snow depth charts this far ahead are often not very accurate but this mornings ECM model run is indicating 30-40cm of snow by next weekend (14th Feb).
Turning bitterly cold over this coming weekend into next week with an increasing risk of snow.
I missed the

Hopefully we might see another display tonight.
