Crazy how you coach/mentor a young man/woman, work with them & help them realize their ability when nobody else wants anything to do with ‘em. Then, when he/she becomes skilled, same guys who wouldn’t give the time of day tells the kid why they shouldn’t play with you. #EYCE 🔰

With Summer / AAU 🏀 on deck, HS hoopers (15u-17u): Understand that you don’t need to drop #30ppg to get exposure. Coaches would rather see you w/ 9-16 pts, 5-8 assts, 5-8 rebs, 1-3 stls per game on a winning team, where scoring is balanced. Don’t be fooled by #exposure too..

Players 6’6 or taller, you DON’T have to play for an AAU team that only wants you to rebound & protect the rim. Know your worth Kid.. This game at the next level favors you, over smaller guards. So get w/ a coach who develops players & allows you to showcase your complete game!!

Interesting how organizations, who tout being “for kids”, consistently put organizational interests & personal quests in front of what ALL kids need. We had 2 shoe league teams in NE & to create a monopoly over the “best players” they sacrificed opportunities for 25-30 more kids.

As a coach, who is a developer of talent, I’d personally prefer an elite defender who may struggle on offensive, than an elite offensive player unwilling to play defense. It’s not even close, but I know that’s rare.. 🤷🏾‍♂️

I see way too many players & parents are either #embarrassed OR #ashamed to play lower level sports at the youth, AAU or HS stages. I have so much respect for kids who struggle in a sport, work aggressively to improve & become competent & confident at their craft..

If you’re deciding on a SPR / SUM basketball team, please consider: 15u & under- 100% #development & 0% #exposure it means NOTHING. 16u- 60% #development (ie 6’5 is a wing, not a post). 40% #exposure 17u- 85% #exposure (shoe league is GREAT, but NOT necessary) 15% #development

EYCE Elite 2023 (NE) get our first win of the tourney 53-31 over a Team KC. Started off looking dominant & then our “road legs” took over (3:30 AM departure & 8:30 AM arrival) & we got a tad sloppy. Next up, vs OK Irish at 2:50 PM. Play hard, work smart! #EYCElite 🔰
