Providing NEA members with the support needed to defend the future of public education and fight for the needs of their students. We uphold union values.
NEW: President Biden won't speak at the National Education Association convention in Philly this Sunday due to NEA strike.
"President Biden is a fierce supporter of unions and he won’t cross a picket line," per campaign.
Biden will still travel to PA.
It’s official! NEASO members have secured our 2024-2027 contract.
We are incredibly proud of what we have achieved. This contract was created by the hard work of every NEASO member and supporter.
Today we learned that
@NEAToday
is cutting off access to our FSA benefits.
Did NEA communicate this information to us? No. NEASO members only found out when they went to pick up critical medication and had to pay out of pocket for it. Absolutely shameful.
Today we were supposed to return to work after the conclusion of our 3-day Unfair Labor Practice strike. We were looking forward to getting back to our jobs and to supporting NEA members.
"Instead of celebrating milestones and planning her wedding, Hilts is worried her employer, the National Education Association, will cut off her health insurance and access to lifesaving treatments she needs to prevent her kidneys from shutting down."
From NEA members to labor allies, thousands of people around the country stood in support of NEASO’s fight to uphold union values and secure a fair contract.
Thank you for showing that solidarity is a verb!
Today members of the NEA Staff Union are on a ULP strike. We hope you will join us on the picket line on Broad Street outside the Pennsylvania Convention Center!

I was a dues-paying union member for several decades.
As Governor, I’ll always stand up for collective bargaining, safe working conditions, apprenticeship programs, fair wages, and affordable health care.
We are heartbroken and angry, but we remain steadfast in our fight for a fair contract and in our commitment to ensuring
@NEAToday
upholds union values.
The Executive Board of the Delaware State Education Association has shown incredible bravery and solidarity. We are so grateful for your support and we can’t wait to get back to work for educators in Delaware and across the country!
"They’re creating a precedent that every bad school district and every bad corporation can look to and say, 'If the largest union in the country can do this to their workers, why can't we?'"
We’ve entered Week 4 of NEA’s illegal lockout, the new school year is starting, and there are 98 days until Election Day.
It’s past time for
@NEAToday
to settle a fair contract that upholds union values and gets NEASO members and the nation’s largest labor union back to work.
By choosing a former teacher and NEA member as her running mate,
@KamalaHarris
clearly aims to win the support of educators in her bid for the presidency.
How can
@neatoday
rally public education votes if they continue to illegally lock out the very staff who do all that work?
We’ve seen
@NEAToday
managers and contractors do our work while we are illegally locked out from our jobs. We have proof that NEA management has pressured interns to do NEASO work, and even tricked Affiliate Staff and NEA members to engage in scab work.
“The NEA's tactics could put the big union in an awkward position when it has to negotiate on the other side of the table, on behalf of its members.” -
@axios
We are fighting for NEASO members, for NEA members, and for workers across the country.
Earlier today, NEA sent out a press release praising the VP selection of Tim Walz, an educator.
The press release was written by scab labor as the union's communication staff is currently locked out
The scabbed work includes supporting NEA President
@BeckyPringle
's television appearances, working with NEA's delegates to the Democratic National Convention, writing articles for
@NEAToday
, and keeping NEA's computer systems running—though just barely.
Unfortunately, NEA leadership decided that they would rather lock staff out in retaliation for our legal actions.
NEA is doubling down on the anti-union tactics practiced by the very worst school districts and bosses across the country.
Current speaker is Becky Pringle, head of America's largest union
@NEA
, whose own unionized employees
@NEAStaffUnion
have been locked out for the past four weeks. It would be interesting for someone to ask Kamala Harris about this.
This behavior from NEA not only threatens the well being, health, and safety of NEASO employees, it sets a precedent that threatens the labor movement as a whole.
Wondering if
@NEAToday
stands in solidarity with
@UAW
? 🤔
NEASO was just at the
@NLRB
yesterday sharing our affidavits on NEA’s unfair labor practices, so we’re not entirely sure how they feel about labor law atm.
Labor Day is dedicated to the story and achievements of the American labor movement. This year, our union faced every challenge with strength, unity, & dignity. Our union, and NEA, will be stronger because we came together in solidarity to ensure union values were upheld.
We do not want to interrupt the work we do for NEA members, but we believe that as employees of the nation's largest union, we have the responsibility to set an example and demand the type of employer we want for EVERY worker.

Walking the line with my union siblings today.
@NEAStaffUnion
has been locked out by their employer, the
@NEAToday
. Yes, the largest union in the country locked out their own staff union. It’s beyond shameful.
Today we march with heavy hearts thinking of Shannon and her 22 years of hard work at NEA. Her spirit of solidarity is with us.
We’re keeping Shannon’s family and loved ones close to our hearts and honoring her by continuing our fight with the same passion that she showed.
We, the undersigned members of Professional Staff Association of Maryland, are asking
@NEAToday
to end this lockout and bring our colleagues back to work under a fair union contract. ✊

Fast forward to now — Managers at the AFL-CIO were recently told that they would be receiving a 60% retroactive unfreeze of their pension benefits.
When members of the Guild found out about this, we were shocked, confused and angry.
If NEA management cannot uphold the union values of its members—NEASO will be there to remind them what union values look like. We hope you will join us on the picket line!
Congratulations to the members of
@IndianaPSO
! Every worker deserves to be respected, to receive fair compensation, and to have their voices heard. Union staff are no exception.
Thousands of miles walked, letters sent, and phone calls later, we have a contract that centers racial and social justice, uplifts member voices, and holds contractors accountable.
Our union, and NEA, will be stronger because we came together and fought for our principles.
All our solidarity with our siblings at
@NEAStaffUnion
, who are on their 3rd week of lockout by their bosses (YES 3 WEEKS).
@NEAToday
, it's 3 weeks past the time to do the right thing!

From the beginning, NEA leadership has shared misleading information about their proposals and this entire process directly to state leaders, other NEA managers, and directly to RA delegates.
#NEARA
Together we sent a powerful message to employers across the country: when workers come together through our union there is nothing we cannot achieve.
Thank you for your solidarity. Onward!
Earlier this week, we were forced to file two unfair labor practice complaints with the NLRB: one regarding violating our contract regarding overtime pay and one about failure to answer information requests as part of the bargaining process.
Throughout this process we have upheld union values. Together we secured a contract that improves our daily lives and creates a path forward for the future of NEASO.
As unions, we must live by the expectations we have of our employers. Add your name to join with SPFE in calling NEA to bargain in a way that is consistent with union values, & settle the contract with
@NEAStaffUnion
Today, NEA Staff Union members will participate in an Unfair Labor Practices (ULP) strike against NEA.
This marks the first time in over 50 years that our union has had to make the difficult decision to strike. This decision was not made lightly.
Scab labor not only hurts NEASO members, by extending the lockout, but also weakens the support for educators and workers across the country. Help us hold NEA accountable as we fight for the fair contract we deserve.
Despite publicly championing labor rights and portraying themselves as staunch advocates for workers, NEA management’s actions behind closed doors tell a very different story—one that is shameful and hypocritical, undermining the entire labor movement.
After more than 2.5 years of bargaining and mounting a nationwide strike threat, we have come to a tentative agreement with Audubon management. The 3 year deal is a direct result of the dedication and hard work of our membership. We will proceed with a ratification vote.
Today, we gathered on the picket line and honored Shannon’s memory and her commitment to our cause.
We will continue to fight for the rights and benefits that Shannon believed in, including the critical issue of healthcare that is currently under threat in our negotiations.
The members of the National Education Association are currently working on an expired contract.
Sign here to tell the NEA management, which has failed to address critical issues, that it's time to make serious investments in NEA staff 👇
How would you feel if your employer of 17 years canceled your hotel, travel, and cell phone in the middle of an out-of-state work trip without warning?

NEASO members are united by our commitment. Our commitment to our best work for NEA members and to the union values we share with NEA them—and to the vision we strive towards for public education, our members, and students across the country.
.NEA management has repeatedly ignored our concerns leaving us with no choice but to take this action. The strike will involve only specific centers impacted by the ULP against NEA.
Her most recent message to NEASO was:
"I’ve never been more proud of our union! Thank you for this fight and all that you’re doing! I’m right here with you in heart and spirit and will do anything asked or needed of me that I can virtually. In solidarity always!"
It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of the passing of our beloved NEASO member, Shannon Nephew. Shannon was a shining example of bravery. She served NEASO as a Steward and was fully engaged in our union’s fight as recently as Friday.
Our AFSE contract expired over a month ago, yet we're still working. Behind ever strong union is A STRONG UNION! Demonstrate UNION values, NEA!
