20 years ago today, Staff Sgt. Lance Koenig gave his life for his country. He was killed in action in Iraq while serving with the 141st Engineer Combat Battalion. We will never forget his service and sacrifice, nor that of his family and friends.

As the early morning fog drifted across the rippling current of the Missouri River, the North Dakota Army National Guard conducted a wet gap crossing exercise at Kimball Bottoms.
Soldiers of the 957 EN CO completed a wet gap crossing, constructing a bridge across the Missouri River in the Kimball Bottoms, south of Bismarck. They were supported by 6 other units from the 131 MP BN, 164 EN BN, 1-188th ADA, & 1-112th AVN
