Personally, I think Mitsuri has more parallels with Muzan than she has with Zohakuten, but for people to realize that, they would have to understand Muzan's character, which is something impossible to happen.

The main difference between the 2 is that Mitsuri is selfless, while Muzan is selfish. Mitsuri had no personal reason to fight in the final battle, unlike the other hashiras. She risked and lost her life because it was the right thing to do.

In the end they weren't able to escape the fate they ran from. Muzan was reached by the shadow(light actually)of death that always pursued him, and Obanai ended up being killed and kinda eaten by a demon. These two things happened a few panels apart.

Gyomei was the one to take baby Muzan to the ground, contributing to Muzan's death. And Muzan killed Gyomei in the baby form, which is symbolic to the fact Gyomei was so distrustful of children, like an intuition.

In order to survive, Obanai escaped his cage and ran away, this caused his family to get the same fate they were going to give him, they died in his place. Muzan became a demon, this caused his family to be cursed to have the same weak body as him for generations.

There's really no comparison. Muzan is a way better written character. With more themes that interconnect with the main cast. He has layers of characterization, other than "I do what I want when I feel like it". But I wouldn't expect aura merchants to understand his character.
