I know I have become a bit of an old cynic through all of this, but I canโ€™t help but think the date for the mandatory face coverings in shops is conveniently after schools closed to avoid the inevitable questions about why we donโ€™t need them

Why is it that every decision about schools is leaked first in the media. There will be more qns from parents that we canโ€™t answer as we didnโ€™t know! Is it too much to ask that this news is communicated with schools so we can prepare and support our communities? #schoolclosures

School leaders please help. We have 25-30% children in. I have encouraged parents to stay at home but it hasnโ€™t changed the numbers too much. In light of the updated guidance, should I share it and emphasis the point. Iโ€™m concerned Iโ€™m guilt tripping parents. #edutwitter

Such a strange feeling to be waking up to today. The interview process to take over from me as HT begins today. Despite knowing that this would inevitably come, it all seems a bit surreal. By Thursday, a decision will have been made. Iโ€™ve never been very good at letting go!

Iโ€™m a Headteacher and I could not agree more with this comment. As much as I want to be able to fully open my school and see all the children, staff and families, to even consider it now would be irresponsible and put all of the people in the school community at unnecessary risk.

Catch up funding equals about ยฃ80 per child for the year, so ยฃ2400 per class. I reckon that I will spend close to that in sanitiser, soap, cleaning materials, cleaning hours and supply costs. Is it ok that I publish this for my catch up funding? Itโ€™s keeping my school open!

@ChrisYoules Am I the only one who takes offence when thereโ€™s talk of extending the school day to catch up and then saying it will be staffed by volunteers? Surely the pandemic has shown how important educators are. You wouldnโ€™t go to a doctors after hours to get a diagnosis from a volunteer.

This makes me so angry. I know we all want to go back to normal and that we canโ€™t go on like this forever but I just canโ€™t understand the priorities. I appreciate that Iโ€™m coming at this based on the impact on education as thatโ€™s where I see it. THREAD 1/n #education #edutwitter

Arty dressed himself this morning. The shirt and jogging bottoms is a strong look. Must have seen me on some of my zoom calls!

@chrisdysonHT Same for us. I have a summer catch up of my own to do with my family and so do my staff. They can have the building if they want but if they want the best start in September then we all need a break.

Spent a long time today thinking and planning, trying to predict the unpredictable. What I've found really challenging is the silence from the 'higher powers'. Nothing from LA or Govt. All schools left to decide for themselves. Strong leadership? So proud of the other leaders.

This is a really interesting article and highlights some interesting points. A maths lecturer identifying that we make maths complicated and should be more honest. And a writer who thinks that the grammar we teach is a bit dry and out of context.

Just overhead Arty, my four year old, talking to Mrs C while cleaning his teeth. They were talking about when he is โ€˜bigger like you mummyโ€™ and he said โ€˜I could be a teacher like you and daddyโ€™. Torn between feeling immensely proud or whether I should warn him now! #teacher

Itโ€™s the end of a long year and Iโ€™m sure we are all frazzled. For anyone that wants it, here is a summary of the Ofsted history research review. Hopefully it lightens the load a little. #edutwitter #leadership #ofsted #sharingiscaring #History

And just like that, Arty is 4 (well tomorrow - work & nursery get in the way a bit!). His little face this morning was a picture - memories that will stay forever. So proud of Mrs C too who made the dinosaur cake from scratch and even contended with Artyโ€™s โ€˜helpโ€™ yesterday!

Iโ€™ve resisted commenting on this until now but this is just not ok. Whatever the thoughts on the process, the system, the outcomes, something that cannot be in any doubt is that even one person crying is too many.

Ruth Perry Inquest today: Ofsted Inspector, Gareth Evans, said that during inspections "we more often see people crying than not". Any process that makes people cry more often than not, would suggest that the process is wrong & needs to change. #EnoughIsEnough

This is misleading. I think the disruption in schools is greater now than when we had bubbles. Some children at home, some staff at home. Teachers zooming in to class full of children. or Children at home for 10 days whilst peers in class. Coverage more varied than before!

@lamdeinu Tell her that she needs to look after her own children first. She has to feel comfortable with the decision she is making and if that means not including her on the rota so be it. Sheโ€™ll be feeling anxious already so support her in making the decision thatโ€™s right for her.

School budgets were already tight. Supply costs have been high since Sept due to #COVID19 absences - and the other bugs weโ€™ve dodged for 2 years. What worries me is how we balance ventilation (opening doors and windows) with rapidly increasing energy costs. #edutwitter
