Private Jimmy Stewart (looking adorable in his glasses) during the radio broadcast of We Hold These Truths, a celebration of the 150th anniversary of the United States Bill of Rights, on December 15, 1941. He was stationed at Moffett Field in California at the time.
Mr. Smith Goes to Washington (1939) was released 85 years ago today. Pictured below are stars Jimmy and Jean Arthur behind the scenes on the Columbia lot during filming.
This might be a hot take but while everyone else is crying at the end of It’s A Wonderful Life I’m laughing because Jimmy obviously doesn’t know the words to Auld Lang Syne and is singing the loudest 🤣😂
Ruth Hussey was such a terrific actress, I'm so happy she has her own

Happy birthday to my main, Jimmy Stewart. The reason I discovered classic films and, as corny as it sounds, helped me develop into the person I am today. I’m honored to play a small role in preserving his legacy. ❤️🥳
Catch Jimmy on
@tcm
twice this Thursday April, 25 with IT'S A WONDERFUL WORLD (1939) at 3pm (EST) and THE SHOP AROUND THE CORNER (1940) at 9:45pm!

“I picked up a pair of sticks and it was the most natural thing I’ve ever done. That was it…I was never more at home on a set of drums.” -Karen Carpenter
You can’t help but smile when you see her smile here, knowing how happy she was playing drums 🥁❤️
RIP Virginia Parton Moss (1925-2022), who played Ruth Dakin Bailey in IT’S A WONDERFUL LIFE (1946) and was the last living adult cast member. She has gained her wings at the age of 97. ❤️🙏
Remembering the incomparable Margaret Sullavan on the 63rd anniversary of her passing on January 1, 1960. This is one of my favorite photos of the two frequent co-stars and close friends, about to take off in Jimmy's airplane c. 1938. Maggie was also a recreational pilot.
Tomorrow is Jimmy Day on
@tcm
!!! Watch him all day long starting bright and early at 6am! I'll be in and out as time permits live tweeting and will live tweet HARVEY (1950) at 8pm EST. So excited!

Happy birthday, Jimmy! Today is officially Jimmy Stewart Day in Pennsylvania, but it really should be a national holiday, since Jimmy is a national treasure. Let’s all take some time to celebrate him today. 🎉🎂
"Jim was no slouch. He had a talent for technical things. Never was much good academically, but he could make things. He told me that when he was 12 he made a crystal radio with oatmeal boxes and wires. I didn't believe him, so he made one-and the damn thing WORKED!" -Henry Fonda
Was not expecting to write another memorial tweet today (I never am 😔). RIP Raquel Welch. She worked with Jimmy in the 1968 western Bandolero!; Here they are at the film’s premiere.
BIG NEWS YALL!! Jimmy's VERY FIRST screen appearance EVER is airing on
@tcm
this month! The rare short film ART TROUBLE (1934) starts at 1:53AM Wednesday, 11/6, according to the website schedule.

Other than the classic western channels, you unfortunately don't see Jimmy Stewart movies on TV regularly except on TCM. Vertigo (1958) is on now.
