Home schooling exists to separate children from the larger culture, usually because of hyper-religious parents. Their kids grow up unable to function well

@Esqueer_ @AriDrennen My students aren't vacationing in Florida with their parents as much anymore. Even some of my fellow teachers are ending their annual trips down there. All for the same reason they tell me. Florida is no longer a welcoming place for families, or really for anyone.🤷🏻‍♂️

@AriDrennen Last year I had two students in my classes that had just moved from Florida to NYS. As the year went on I learned one student had two moms, and that's why they moved. The other student's parents were teachers and they felt they couldn’t work in Florida anymore.

@Tazerface16 My Dad was the bombardier on a B-24 flying out of Italy during WW2. Shot down over Romania, and spent 18 months in a POW camp in western Poland. Later served in Korea as well. We lost him in 2006.

The surface temp is an average. Venus has a cloud cover that keeps the heat in, and a day there is longer than its year.

@jessphoenix2018 I read "The Martian" out loud every day to my 9th grade students, just 3 or 4 pages at a time. I start the class that way because it quiets them down fast. I've also learned that fluent reading aloud actually helps some of the students who have challenges with reading.

@FeistyLibLady Embarrassing them is the point. They want the kids to feel shame, so they can go home and make their parents feel it as well. This perverse dynamic is an intrinsic part of some people's personalities. They NEED to make people feel as awful as they themselves do.

@WyrdGrl @JanessaWaterson @ServitudeClass Yes, and a global pandemic changed that. Life changes, and we must adapt to those changes or deal with the consequences. I dealt with the pandemic in my way. Society adapted as well. In terms of vaccinations, my choice was more congruent with society's changes than a non-vaxxer.

@abughazalehkat @AriDrennen The only thing that's clear is they don't know ANY teachers. Many if not most teachers reflect on that very issue every day they teach. And we don't have the guns that police have. We have wooden doors, desks, and handouts to hide behind.
