The employee responsible for a recent racist social media post is no longer employed with Mission CISD. We are thankful to live in a community that cares so deeply about the importance of human dignity and equality. Mission CISD will not tolerate racism.
Shining the light of hope! Mission CISD is joining other RGV districts in lighting up their stadiums nightly 8-9pm during the week to represent a light of hope for our communities.

And just like that his college plans are set. AJ Gonzaque is the first VMHS football player to sign with a Division 1 college since 2017. He heads for UTSA this fall.

MHS student, Sebastian Gonzalez signed on the dotted line this afternoon, accepting a track scholarship from UTRGV. Gonzalez has been an Eagle track standout, especially in the long jump and triple jump. This fall, he will become a member of the Vaqueros track and field team.

2015 VMHS graduate, Cristian Javier Leal has been serving with the US Navy on a ship based out of Japan and had not seen his sisters in a year. He surprised them today. Here he is at RCJH for one of those surprises. Welcome home Cristian!

Leila Arriola from MHS, is the 1st cross country runner from MHS to make it to the State UIL Cross Country Championship race in 13 years. The event was held this past weekend. Arriola placed 45th & finished before her other 6A division competitors from the RGV area.
With LOTS of hard work & support of athletic trainers&teachers, Alexis Aranda, a senior at VMHS has earned his national EMT certification. This is the 1st time we have had a student accomplish this. Read more about his journey here,

Congrats to Logan Dovalina, who will be hoping on a very long plane trip to Australia to perform for the 2018 High School Honors Performance Series at the Sydney Opera House in July. He will be a part of the Honors Choir.
Columbine HS shooting anniversary observances today. At MHS, students asked for 13 second moment of silence for the 13 killed. Students also wrote 13 positive notes to hand out to others. At VMHS, a group of students gathered for 13 mins, which included a moment of silence.
Not only did we get a peek of 2018 MHS grad, Alma Zamora, on The Tonight Show last night, we got to watch her get a potentially life-changing surprise. Congrats Alma!!
Students at Mims Elementary lined up along the route the Patriots were taking as they headed to San Antonio for their game against the Thunderbirds. They had posters and noisemakers to let the players know that they are cheering them on and are backing them 100%. Go! Fight! Win!

When the UTRGV baseball team hits the field for their 2021 season, they will have an Eagle in their midst. Steve Villarreal from MHS signed a letter of intent, today, accepting an athletic scholarship to play at the collegiate level.
VMHS student athlete and football standout, Jazz Vallejo has his college plans set. He signed a letter of intent this afternoon accepting a scholarship from Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas. Vallejo was a linebacker on the VMHS Patriots football team.
Start 4 all Mission CISD schools will be delayed Fri. Dec. 8 by 2 hours. Classes will begin at 9:45am. for elems, at 10am for jr highs, &10:15 for HS. Bus pick up will also be delayed by 2 hours.
The pep rally is done. Friday morning they head for San Antonio’s Alamodome. They depart at 10:00 a.m. with a campus send off, weather permitting.

Many may not realize how important our custodial/maintenance staff are in keeping us healthy throughout the year. Their roles have greatly expanded as we partner w/ our cities to slow the spread of COVID-19. They are on the front lines, helping disinfect with our e-mist machines.

Veterans Memorial High School has two students, Alexis Aranda and Stefan Jabs, that have been accepted for the NASA High School Aerospace Scholars program.

MHS student athlete, Mia Lerma made her college plans official. She signed a letter of intent accepting a golf scholarship with University of Houston-Victoria. Lerma has excelled academically and on the course, helping lead the girls golf team to their 4th district championship.
The Blue Nation invaded Mission City Hall. Our thanks to the Mission City Council for honoring the Lady Patriots Volleyball Team for their excellent season, and for recognizing the Patriots Football Team and wishing them well as they prep for their trip to the Alamodome on Sat.

Major kudos to the MHS Volleyball team. For the first time in about 29 years, they have earned the district championship. Now on to the Bi-District level!
While an announcement about his future plans may have been made a couple of days ago, it became official this afternoon when Landry Gilpin from VMHS signed on the "dotted line" accepting a football scholarship with Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas.

Congratulations to Andy Martinez for being named to the Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association All State Team. Andy is a second baseman for the Mission Eagles and is under the direction of Baseball Coach Ricardo Lozano.
MCHS senior, Moises Ayala, will be attending an Ivy League university this fall. He is headed for Cambridge, Massachusetts to attend Harvard University where he will be pursuing a double degree in Government and Economics. Congratulations!

We have received a message from a concerned citizen who described a deeply offensive post he had viewed on Facebook. In the message, he claimed that the post was shared by a district employee.
Due to anticipated weather. We will offer early Dismissal for Parents that can pick up their children. Elementary at 1pm. Jr. High & HS at 1:30 pm. For parents that are unable to pick up their children, we will still provide bus transp at regular time in areas w/ open roads

VMHS student athlete, Mackenzie Gerlach signed a letter of intent accepting a volleyball scholarship from New Mexico Junior College in Hobbs, New Mexico. While Gerlach is best known for her power on the volleyball court, she has excelled in other sports and academics.
