As great as this run at RG was, it's what Rafa did that summer that would be a run for the ages. RG in June, Wimby in July, & OG gold in August. Clay, grass, & HC. Beat Novak (SF) & Fed (F) at RG, Andy (QF) and Fed (F) at Wimby, & Novak (SF) at the OG. Oh yeah...and he was 22.

Haven't posted this in awhile. Rafa is the only man who's got more than 400 match wins on 2 different surfaces. No one else is even close. Now he's got 500 wins on hard. He's got 464 on clay and could conceivable reach 500 on clay before he retires.

One more time for those characterizing Rafa's foot issue as a standard "injury." That implies that it will get better. It won't. It's Mueller-Weiss syndrome. The tarsal navicular bone is dying (osteonecrosis). Flare-ups can be caused by trauma or by nothing at all. +

In the advanced stage of the condition, extreme pain is one of the characteristics of it, so whether or not Rafa plays is always about pain management. He'll eventually reach a point of no return where it can't be managed. He'll know when it's time. For now, savor every moment.
