Baseball is easily my favorite sport and a big reason I got into sports journalism in the first place. It was quite a spring season. Glad I was able to catch a lot of games on both sides of the river. Thanks to the readers of
@hannibalcourier
and
@WhigSports
for the support.
Hannibal falls to FZE 51-46 in the girls quarterfinal. Heck of a season for the Lady Pirates. Went from 5 wins combined the previous two seasons to 18 wins this year.
Going to release the
@hannibalcourier
and
@WhigSports
All-Area basketball teams on Friday and have them in the Saturday papers. A little later than I originally planned, but I’ve been laser focused the past few weeks on getting as many spring sports previews out as possible.
Going to be taking tomorrow and next week off. Wish everyone a happy holiday and Merry Christmas. See you next year, starting off with a January full of tournaments and shootouts.
Drake Dudley and Charlie Culp both break the
@HPirateBaseball
single season hit record in the 4th inning with 34 hits.
@Hannibal_AD
takes a 8-0 lead on Highland midway through the 4th.

The Cardinals wouldn’t be in the position they’re in today without Goldy and Nado. Let’s stop running their names through the mud. It’s the lack of pitching depth that’s hurt the Cardinals and that’s on the front office.
I want to thank Coach Rung and the Monroe City girls basketball team for the card and the thoughtfulness. Appreciate it. Nice covering your team this year.
"(MACC) is so close to home," Moss said. "I talked to coach (Matt Bauer) and the players (at MACC) and I knew I could get along with them well. It's a new program, so that's exciting."

One thing I’d like to add is South Shelby has a really good basketball team. Finished 2nd in Class 3 last year. Have the CCC Player or the Year in Miranda Patterson, 3 other All-Conference players and a deep bench. Good at all facets of the game. No shame for Palmyra’s loss, imo.
Abbey Redd hits a lead off triple and scores on an error, while Jansen Juette hit an RBI single to drive in Jazlin Gottman.
@PLPSoftball
takes a 2-0 lead on Louisiana in the district quarterfinals.
Kyle Hays throws a two yard TD pass to Joshua Talton to give
@MonroeCityHigh
a 12-0 lead on
@Palmyra_R1
with 45 seconds remaining in the first quarter.
