No. Absolutely not. I really can’t even believe anyone thinks this way. If you have the chance to win a Stanley Cup, I don’t care if the game is on the surface of the moon, you do everything possible to win it at the first opportunity!
The only goal of the night to send the Lightning to the Cup final was a shorthanded goal on a power play for a cross checking penalty. The hockey gods have a sense of humor.
This is the fifth time in my lifetime seeing my team play for a Stanley Cup. Five. In 18 years. They have won at least three times. No matter what happens this week, I am good.
No matter what happens in this game tonight, the flight home seems like a great time to call Nick Paul up to the front of the plane and have him sign that extension.
I am just going to get this out of the way right now before the series starts just so no one is caught off guard as the night progresses:
Alex Killorn went to Harvard.
Everything was going swimmingly up until the “what we would like is for the Lightning to give the Canadiens a break so we can have a game five” garbage.
With Vasy coming back tonight, wanted to take a moment to give Jonas Johansson some props. Could not have asked for more from him in his time as the starter.
Everything about this Stamkos situation is just not right. Every last bit of it. The writing has been on the wall since training camp, but honestly I never thought it would all play out like this. I thought cooler heads would ultimately prevail. What a mess.
In an entire lifetime of watching hockey, I don’t ever recall hearing a coach say during a playoff series that they were going to complain to a supervisor. This was honestly a first for me today.
I really enjoy when Jeannot does something that probably should start a scrum and as soon as the other team realizes who is involved they immediately decline to get involved.
If you had asked me to come up with every scenario I could think of involving the Lightning and free agency today, exactly zero of them would have included Andrej Sustr.
How this all went down is wrong. No matter how much the next contract turns out to be, the process and how the exit went down was wrong.
JBB has some serious work to do.
And you can call them whatever you want. Mickey Mouse cups. Donald Duck cups. Buc-ee Beaver cups. Doesn’t matter. Nothing anyone calls them is taking those banners away. Nothing.
I wonder if we will finally find out where Alex Killorn went to college tonight. Can’t believe no one ever mentioned on any of the broadcasts it in all his years here.

George Bailey, still undefeated all these years later. Way to go George, way to go.
