As DIDs become more widely adopted, it will become easier for entities to track and monitor users' online activities, potentially leading to a loss of privacy. And since DIDs are linked to personal information, it raises questions about who has access and how it is being used.

Normally one would use the smart contract as a standard wallet. But in case one loses access to the private key, Social Recovery comes in. The user should to ask the Guardians’ to sign a special transaction which will let them change the address and regain access to the funds.

This approach was coined by @VitalikButerin and here is how it works. First, a smart contract is created and the addresses are added: 1. The owner’s address, which initiates transactions 2. 3+ ‘Guardian’ addresses which with the majority of votes can change the private key.
