I sat and interviewed Laura Trott the day after she won her second gold in 2012. She was just great - savvy and smart. 12 years on, as a pundit, Laura Kenny’s every bit as impressive. She knows it inside out, but wears that lightly. It’s a great way to be.

My daughter spent three hours in an operating theatre today, cared for by a brilliant cardiac surgeon, for whom English wasn’t a first language, nursed by people from Britain, Eastern Europe and the Caribbean. Our NHS is incredible. Its diversity is our strength.

My daughters are graduates, my sister is an executive head teacher, my Mum teaches English to refugees, my sisters in law are a teacher and a chef and my wife is a judge. Every day is International Women’s Day in our house. They’re all incredible. We trail in their wake.
