Thoughts on Josh Shapiro as Harris nears a decision:
- We’ve seen the most oppo on him because he’s the frontrunner
- He’s the frontrunner because he’s immensely popular in THE critical state
- If he gets Harris 1-2 pts in PA, he should be the pick
- The VP doesn’t make policy
My last word on Rhys Hoskins before offseason transactions get going: a lot of people would view him differently if he were hitting 6th or 7th in the lineup (as he should be) rather than 2nd.
Workshopping a take: Kirk Cousins is basically the inverse of Nick Foles. Cousins has good overall career numbers but wilts under the brightest lights. Foles has so-so overall numbers but is Joe Montana when it counts.
What the “erasing history” crowd gets wrong when they defend Confederate statues is that the South had real heroes who could’ve been memorialized. Boys who enlisted with the Union, people who hid runaway slaves, slaves who fought for the North, Reconstruction black legislators...
I hesitate to share this given how painful it is, but hatred can only be confronted by exposing it in the light of day. While taking the dog out after midnight last night, we found a noose hanging in a tree on our block, directly across from the NW African American Museum. 1/
This in one of Seattle’s most racially diverse neighborhoods and an area that was once the heart of the city’s Black community. We’ve reported the incident to local police and the FBI. I can’t get the searing image out of my head, but perhaps I shouldn’t try. 2/
Four (!) of the Sixers' five starters are in the top 40 of this list, which ranks defenders going back to 2013-14.

Hey, y'all! Here's an article explaining our new NBA defensive metric, DRAYMOND, which is based on opponents' shooting data. We think it's pretty cool and captures important parts of defense that other advanced stats miss!

1) “About 57% of Pennsylvanians strongly or somewhat approve of Shapiro’s leadership …”
And the one you cited still has him at a +18 net approval rating.
2) Is this just meaningless or made up?
Chase Utley was second in fWAR during two 10-year spans, 2004-13 and 2005-14.
The only eligible players to accomplish that feat who aren't in the Hall of Fame? Pete Rose and Barry Bonds.
"Biden rarely seems happier than when he’s around freshly poured concrete..." is a terrific

1) In what world is +18-20 net approval not popular?
2) He was elected statewide twice as AG before becoming governor
3) You completely ignored the op-ed from an Arab-American leader who vouched for Shapiro as a devoted friend of the Arab and Muslim communities in PA.
Shady is quietly building a brilliant career. He's now just 37 rushing yards from 10,000, passing Portis for no. 30 on the all-time list. Next up? Ricky Williams.
Only guys above him with same or higher per carry avg. (4.7): Sanders, Brown, A.P., Tiki, and O.J.

My general feeling about Game 3 is that the Phillies should rip the Braves' soul out, destroy their will to play baseball again, and make them regret ever stepping foot inside Citizens Bank Park. Other than that, enjoy the game and go Phils.
The Athletic’s final top 300 prospects ranking had Jalen Carter at no. 3 and Nolan Smith at no. 11. The Eagles got them at no. 9 and no. 30, respectively. Howie Roseman, you beautiful bastard.
Inject all these hype videos into my veins, tattoo Harper’s swing on my face, wrap me in the 2022 pennant flag, and tie me to Billy Penn atop City Hall for the next week. Phillies in 6.

No one has a better understanding of the federal government, how it can positively impact the lives of everyday Americans when wielded correctly, and how to work to undo forms of systemic racism and inequality (structures that were sometimes aided by the government itself).
Little consolation, but note how the Eagles handle themselves in defeat. From Sirianni to Hurts to Kelce to Bradberry, there’s no whining, no blaming refs, no trashing the victor. Simply owning their mistakes and tipping their caps to KC. A certain NFC team may want to try it.
Simply stunning figures in

's latest. Faster than anyone expected, suburban Texas is inching closer to the political identity of where I grew up in Montgomery County, PA. The implications can't be understated.
HATERS: “The Sixers only won by hitting a franchise record in three-pointers.”
REALITY: Sure, that helped, but they came into today 8th in the league in 3P%. They can shoot.
1. Jayson Tatum turned 20 today.
2. Brandon Ingram is somehow only 6 months older than him.
I’m always amazed whenever anyone is competent professionally at 20 or younger... I barely knew how to take cash out of an ATM at age 20.

Still not appreciated enough among casual baseball fans. Utley was second in fWAR during the 10-year span from 2004-13. The only eligible players to accomplish that feat who aren't in the Hall of Fame? Pete Rose and Barry Bonds.

Lollll. His tweets are the least of my concern when he's using an unsecured phone. I can't imagine what you would've said had Obama done the same.
