Banning people in Greater Manchester and East Lancashire from meeting their friends in their gardens, but still allowing them to meet in pubs, with a whole load of other people, doesn’t make any sense to me.
A drinks party to celebrate deporting vulnerable people to a country that isn’t safe.
I have no words I can type here for just how awful
@Conservatives
are.
NEW: Speaker of the Commons
@LindsayHoyle_MP
says cost of Big Ben bonging on Brexit night would be £320,000-£500,000
"It is important to weigh up the costs...You are talking about £50,000 a bong...the only people who will hear it will be those who live near/visiting Westminster”
@lucyallan
@KarenH777
@A_Liberty_Rebel
For goodness sake our hospitals are at breaking point, 75k people are dead and you come out with this rubbish. How on earth we’ve come to a point where village idiots are MP’s is staggering, even for the
@Conservatives
party.
Insomnia and grief are not a pleasant combination.
But switching on the news to find
@Conservatives
have lost both by-elections is marvellous.
And now to hear Oliver Dowden has resigned, this morning is just getting better. I hope the Tories implode, Dad would be pleased.
Rough sleeping up 74% since Tories came to power. Mercer can play with gimmicks like Operation Fortitude, but he doesn’t really care. Imagine being part of a government that put nearly 1,000 people onto London’s streets in October by evicting them with 2 days notice. Disgraceful
There is a stark difference between being “homeless” - not having your own home, and sleeping outside every night because of a lack of other options.
I was always in this for Paul and his type - not the Vorderman type. I make no apology for that.
@alexberesfordTV
@BaronsProject
takes suits and our employment support worker helps people with applications and to prepare for interview. We are based in Hammersmith.
Today my thoughts and prayers are for my parents as Dad moves into a nursing home. After 59 years of marriage and being together it will be very difficult but love will endure and I hope their strong faith will comfort them.
The idea that
@BorisJohnson
can unite the country when he is racist, sexist and homophobic is laughable. Grant Shapps chatting shit on
#BBCQuestionTime
Local elections are not just about bins.
I lead a day centre for people who are homeless or living with mental health conditions in Hammersmith & Fulham, a Labour council. When I told them I couldn’t afford the rent, they gave the charity the freehold. They part fund our services
@thesundaytimes
My team take tests so that we protect our guests who are homeless. The life expectancy of people who are street homeless drops by 30 years, many have complex health issues.
If we can’t get free tests then we may be putting vulnerable people at risk.
They partied whilst I cancelled our Christmas Dinners for people who are homeless or living with mental health conditions. With hospitality closed again, it wasn’t right. My guests came in to our centre, 2 at a time, ate and went, no festivities, yet were grateful.
No words.
I don’t have anyone to buy roses, a card or gifts for today. So I stopped and bought chocolates for the homeless woman I chat to each night at Cannon Street Station. Happy St. Valentines Day.
@DeborahMeaden
I worked throughout ensuring that we did our best for people who were homeless, on the edge or living with mental health problems at
@BaronsProject
We didn’t party, we worked hard then went home, we obeyed the rules.
@Conservatives
I remember that morning well, it was the first time I remember hearing my Dad swear, repeatedly. I was 8 years old.
As a Priest he new that it wasn’t good, it would mean that the poor would not be blessed, he was right.
A defining moment indeed.
The day centre I run for people experiencing homelessness costs a little under half a million per year. 600 guests supported, 12k visits.
The government gave Rwanda £140 Million, in advance, for nothing, because their plans were illegal.
That could have paid for 280 day centres
@IsabelOakeshott
@SadiqKhan
Please educate yourself Isabel. Rough sleeping has risen year on year on year under this government. They have cut funding for services, like the day centre I lead for people experiencing homelessness, year on year too.
It is a disgrace, but the blame lies with
@Conservatives
@tomhfh
I lead a homelessness charity. We don’t want or need unwanted food from people having a drink. We serve the finest home cooked food to our guests, because that’s what they deserve.
@GMB
@miffythegamer
@susannareid100
I am almost in tears listening to this, what a horrible country we have become where a 77 year old Widow can only eat once a day & rides on buses to stay warm. Meanwhile
@Conservatives
have given billions to their mates in dodgy contracts & are tax dodgers.
They need to go now.
@lukeakehurst
What Hamas did last week was horrific, what’s happening now in Gaza isn’t justified. Telling 1.1 Million People you must become homeless and we’ve cut off your food supplies, water, medicine and fuel. It’s barbaric.
@KayBurley
£6 Million would fund
@BaronsProject
, day centre for rough sleepers, for 12 years. 102k attendances, 93K meals & showers, 12K 1-1 appointments to get them off the streets & into work, 40K items of new clothing distributed, yet I am struggling with a significant deficit this year
@ChukkaBennett
and
@bertie_lakeland
have filled my heart with joy for the past weeks of lockdown. Keep woofing and sharing your adventures, it’s wonderful to see. Thank you.
Red Roses, to remember Dad, who was called home two years ago this week.
Much loved and remembered every day.
He would have been delighted to see a Labour Victory, we will do it.
Lovely to be able to see Dad, despite a screen between us.
@martinangus
and I sang 3 Carols, Dad joined in the last, “Hark the Herald Angels Sing”.
He remembered all the words.
@kateferguson4
Hi Kate, I run a charity that works with a large number of volunteers each year.
I would not take young people on National Service, volunteers need to do so because they are passionate about the cause, not because the government says they have to.
@wlondonwelcome
So sorry to read this, not only is the food woeful but the freedom to choose is taken away.
I’d like to help, we have funds at
@BaronsProject
to make a difference.
If we were to buy 50, £20 supermarket vouchers can you distribute them?
Thanks,
Michael
As I waited with Dad to pass I promised we would continue to wok to
#GTTO
.
As we took him into church this evening before his funeral tomorrow, the Tories started to fall. He will be beaming in Heaven.
#sinkingship
Tomorrow I will go to work, as normal and serve our guests, experiencing homelessness.
No one in Government will be calling for their tents to be confiscated. No one will be seeking to criminalise them for “being smelly”.
There is much to do, but this is already a win.
Really pleased to have chatted to some of the team from
@dotslondon
. Dogs on the streets care not only for the animals but also their owners. This is their mobile veterinary van & service.
How dare Camilla on
#bbcqt
make a point that if
@UKLabour
get in homelessness won’t be solved overnight. Ok, not overnight, but under
@Conservatives
rough sleeping has risen by 75%. When Labour were in power it went down. She’s gaslighting.
Thank you
#NHS
once again this week. You’ve operated on
@martinangus
& given him a hip replacement. Apparently you asked if he was allergic to anything, he replied Tories. Glad he is back in a ward, deeply grateful.
Just seen it was
#WorldAdoptionDay
I could not have had better parents, they are wonderful people. They even took me when I was a surprise, a BOGOF, twin.
Thank you Mum and Dad. Love you so much.
@MGoodwinFreeman
@LBC
Don’t you dare try and put this on the Mayor. As someone who works with people experiencing homelessness it’s
@Conservatives
in government who have caused this, through funding cuts, year on year, on year.
You and your party are the problem.
@theresa_may
Not bloody likely. Rough Sleeping up by 169%, disabled people deliberately being targeted by the DWP, food bank use through the roof & no plan for Brexit, which simply ought to be stopped. You aren’t fit to run a raffle, never mind a party or country.
@MattHancock
admits on
#bbcqt
that he didn’t know nursing deaths were not being counted from
#COVID19
Our government isn’t up to this crisis, they are woeful.
At my board, on Monday, we discussed closing down
@BaronsProject
to keep everyone safe. I needless to say was not in favour but understood the reasons why. Today
@LBHF
rang as there were vaccines. My whole team will be done by tomorrow. Thank you
#NHS
.
@jeremycorbyn
But unless you change your stance on
#Brexit
you haven’t a hope of winning. I’ve voted Labour all my life but would switch or stay at home.
@GavinWilliamson
We need more houses. Too bad if nimbys have to get real, but it’s not fair to the younger generation and all those who cannot afford a decent place to live, because there isn’t enough housing stock. I welcome the government’s announcement.
Just after 4.00am and no sleep so far, though some have managed to. It’s no life. But it is an insight as to what people rough sleeping face. With
@ChelseaSTrust
.
33 years to the day Mandela was released. Dad & I rang the church bell 150 times to celebrate.
I’ve remembered Mandel and Dad as I’ve walked her beaches, forest, gloried in her mountains & driven scary roads through the passes.
They are committed to ending rough sleeping & know we are part of that solution and therefore support us.
Over the river in Wandsworth, a Tory Council, there is no such provision.
The coming elections are important, especially now, for the poorest in our communities.
Football isn’t my sport, but working with
@ChelseaSTrust
has been a blessing. Their commitment & passion for joining together to be a force for good was the best of community, something we try to be at
@BaronsProject
£12,000 is a wonderful gift so we can create new beginnings.
Dad, was known in his Parishes as “Red Ted”.
He was a lifelong member of
@UKLabour
Sad he is no longer here to vote, but a red plant, for his grave, was definitely appropriate.
Back to work after a long weekend off to see Mum for her birthday.
Today I will meet between 40 - 50 people, who are homeless. I will listen to their stories, their hopes, fears & dreams.
I can say with confidence none of them made a lifestyle choice to be rough sleeping
@lukeakehurst
What’s happening will fuel more terror attacks for generations to come and is wholly disproportionate. I watched an IDF spokesman on the BBC today and it was terrifying. I sat in disbelief that he was so callous with no regard to a million people’s lives.
I am not sure how a 5p cut in fuel duty, when fuel has continued to rise, helps the poorest. Stupid answer from the Tory on
#bbcqt
she’s utterly clueless.
Ma Angus has got her Vote Labour poster in her window. Ma Angus has already voted Labour with a postal vote. Ma Angus, at 83, has volunteered to stuff envelopes and help if she can.
Be like Ma Angus and if you have a vote next week,
VOTE LABOUR.
@WestminsterWAG
That’s just stupid, people have tried to hold him to account for his arrogance and inability to follow the rules everyone else is subjected to and rightly so. He must resign or the government has no credibility left whatsoever.
@Fhamiltontimes
When your Government is corrupt then the institutions will be corrupt too. When a government has no regard for the law, neither will its servants who are supposed to uphold the law.
So much history we are now mirroring. Truly appalling and deeply sad.
@The_DogWalker
Madness, meanwhile I am having sleepless nights this year on how I can balance the books and keep feeding people who are homeless or living with mental health conditions. Very worried numbers will rise and we won’t cope.
@PaulBrandITV
@RabiaL121
He’s not making a difference to any ordinary member of the public, well perhaps he is, he’s making life even harder.
Carers deserve a huge pay increase, but they are probably glad he won’t get the chance to sully their reputation.
Sadly there are people no longer with us, who would have been thrilled, if the polls are correct.
We miss them, but know they will be smiling from up above.
