Available now on Netflix. This happened to us. Similar atrocities continue throughout the world and will not stop while good people do nothing. For the sake of every victim and potential victim of state-sponsored terrorism and injustice, please

On the way home from the High Court in Belfast tonight, I stopped at the scene of the massacre to say a prayer and to tell Tony and Fran and Brian that I hope they can now, finally, leave that field forever.
This time 47 years ago, I was happily playing with these three amazing musicians, Fran O’Toole, Tony Geraghty and Brian McCoy. Little did we know that our deaths had already been planned by very powerful people. All four of us were shot; they died and I survived.

The Miami Showband Massacre took place 46 years ago today! Our three young band mates were murdered and two young men blew themselves to pieces murdering them. All five should be alive today and playing with their grandchildren. All five young men died for absolutely nothing.
Who gave The Victims’ Payment Board the right to ‘score’ the trauma I endured at, and for every day of my life since, The Miami Showband Massacre, and at which I was bombed and shot and watched my band mates slaughtered, as a 3.8 out of 10 on their ‘Trauma Scale’? How dare they?
I was shot and bombed on 31/07/75 and I died twice on the operating table that morning. I've fought against the might of the British establishment for truth and justice for 45 years but battling PTSD is the most difficult battle of my life. It's time to talk about

This lady's 12 year old daughter, Majella O'Hare, was murdered by a British paratrooper as she walked past an army checkpoint on her way to church in Aug '76. For almost 43 years, Mary has been heart-broken but always dignified. Mary is tired now. Please keep her in your prayers.
First they ignored me, then they told me I was mistaken, then they said my testimony would be irrelevant: They produced "official proof" that I was wrong. I was ridiculed from the most unexpected quarters. Now, after 44 years, they have confirmed that I was right.

Although they refused to do so in The High Court settlement, according to documents sent to me recently by the Victims Payment Board, the British Ministry of Defence now appears to have accepted liability for The Miami Showband Massacre. More to come…..
If only there was as much outrage against the cowardly and obscene “Northern Ireland Troubles (Legacy and Reconciliation Bill)” as there is against songs and tunes. If those who shot me and murdered my band-mates only sang songs that morning, nobody would have died.
#Hypocrisy
As usual, our wonderful daughter decorated the Christmas tree but, somehow, it seems to have an extra sparkle this year! To everyone who supported me on my long and rocky journey to The High Court in Belfast last week, I wish you all a Happy and Peaceful Christmas.
I have no problem with people, on either side of the political divide, singing their songs. If singing was the only offence committed during the so-called ‘Troubles’, the graveyards would be far less crowded. It’s the killing we should be objecting to; not the music.
In 1982 travelling to Donegal via the north for the first time since the massacre, our four-piece band was ordered by a female UDR officer to put all our equipment on the street in the pouring rain and to remove all the covers. They all laughed as everything we had was destroyed.
On the morning of July 31st 1975, strangers all over the world were praying that I would survive the crucial first 48 hours. My family and I will always be grateful for those prayers: Today is my 70th birthday and if I have learned anything in all those years, it is

Remembering my three Miami Showband band-mates, Tony Geraghty, Fran O’Toole and Brian McCoy, murdered on this day 49 years ago. Their cruel deaths or the pain and suffering inflicted upon those left behind achieved nothing. The false-flag operation was an abject historic failure.
It took me 10 long years to drag them kicking and screaming before The High Court for murdering my band mates and leaving me in a field with 15 bullet holes in my gut. But when I applied to The VPB for a Victim’s Pension they ran an international check to see if I was a criminal.
I woke this morning to the news that, for the past 30 years, The Irish Government was in possession of a letter from The UVF admitting that they were given the bomb, by the British, that murdered The Miami Showband and left me dying in a blood-soaked field.
They arrested and falsely convicted The Birminghan 6, Guildford 4 and Maguire 7 and imprisoned them for decades not because they had to get someone but because they wanted to end the investigations. Now they are denying victims of those very atrocities access to justice.

Anne and I got married on Saturday, July 27th, 1974. A fifty-year journey with many unexpected twists and turns but, together, we made it and today is our Golden Wedding Anniversary.
My heart stopped three times on the morning of 31st of July 1975. I was only 24 years old but, thanks to the surgeon James Blundell (pictured here with me in 2006) and all the wonderful staff at Daisy Hill hospital in Newry, I survived and today I'm celebrating my 68th birthday.
When I was first shown official documented evidence pertaining to the British army officer in charge of the massacre, a lawyer looked me straight in the face and said, “It appears you were right all along”. That moment will stay with me forever.
For years, I wondered if anyone was listening. I would look around and ask myself where everyone was. Some even told me to be quiet. Now, thanks to
@Netflix
, millions are listening and the three young lads who welcomed me as their newest band member will never be forgotten.
We left Banbridge, County Down, at 2am on Thursday, July 31st 1975 and, finally, got home at 11am on Monday, December 13th 2021, it was ‘The Journey Of A Lifetime’.
Happy Birthday to my friend, Fran O'Toole, who was born this day 75 years ago on February 8th 1946. I will never forget his kindness to me as the new boy in The Miami Showband and I will make sure the world never forgets him either.
My heartfelt thanks to everyone for your well wishes today. I am truly overwhelmed. Sorrow doesn’t age like us but, with age, comes an understanding that we draw strength from each other. May the Spirit of kindness stay with you forever, Stephen
Today is my beautiful daughter's birthday. She was born 16 years after The Miami Showband Massacre but would not have been born had I died with my friends that day. So along with celebrating, I am mindful of all the children who were never born because of that senseless violence.
Today, 44 years ago, 5 young men died needlessly at The Miami Showband Massacre. Let us remember all of them with sadness and, for the sake of the generations to come, let us resolve that it never happens again. It is time for Truth and for Reconciliation.
Our fabulous trumpet player, Brian McCoy, a Protestant lad from Caledon, Co. Tyrone and our lead singer and keyboards player, Fran O’Toole, a Catholic from Bray, Co. Wicklow. The way it should be.

a precious legacy.
Remembering Pat Finucane today who, on February 12th 1989, was shot fourteen times as he sat eating a meal at his Belfast home with his three children and his wife, Geraldine, who was also wounded during the attack. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.
I don't know who's responsible for the Salisbury nerve agent attack but I'm disturbed by the rush to judgment without evidence. However, I can say categorically, that British security forces tried, unsuccessfully, to plant a bomb on our minibus in order to frame us as terrorists.
British military officials briefed the media in 1971 that John McKerr, a father-of-eight, murdered by British soldiers in The Ballymurphy Massacre, “had a gun in his right hand”, despite him having lost that hand while serving in the British army during the Second World War.
To those who are currently abusing me online because of who I choose to engage with, I would like to say two things; Firstly, I will engage with anyone and everyone in pursuit of reconciliation, and, secondly, that their abuse doesn't even come close to being bombed and shot.
This day 44 years ago, two UDR soldiers were each jailed for 35 years for The Miami Showband Massacre. They were also members of The UVF. The judge said the death penalty would have been imposed had it not been recently abolished. I thank God every day that it had been abolished.
Patrick Kielty’s
@PatricKielty
one-on-one chat with James McClean suggests that Patrick has the emotional intelligence to elevate The Late Late Show to an unprecedented level. 👏👏👏
Imagine soldiers fighting not to go to court to prove their innocence while innocent victims fight bravely for decades to go to court! Mary O'Hare fought until the day she died for justice for her 12 year old daughter, Majella, murdered by a British soldier on her way to church.
May 17th 1974: On this day, the 46th anniversary, we remember all the victims of "The Dublin and Monaghan Bombings". May they never be forgotten and may they and their loved ones soon receive the truth and justice that has, for too long, been denied to them.
Nobody asked what religion we were before they shot us. It had nothing to do with religion; it was British political strategy to influence international opinion and pressurise Irish government decision makers. We were just expendable pawns.
The Miami Showband Massacre ended my career in music; it overshadowed everything I did in life. Nine years ago, I was diagnosed with Enduring Personality Change as a result of my experience but I still hold on to my bass guitar as it's the only thing that reminds me of who I was.
This time 49 years ago our Catholic and Protestant band, from north and south, didn’t have a care in the world. Our audience, too, was as diverse as we were and that was a major problem for those whose very existence depended on sectarianism, division and conflict.

I received a lovely message yesterday from a Galway couple who met at a Miami Showband dance in 1975. Every year, they visit our little monument on Parnell Square in Dublin and leave three roses to say thanks for a long and happy marriage. It makes me so very proud of our legacy.
This tiny flower box is the only reminder that The Miami Showband Massacre took place at Buskhill Rd. Co. Down on 31/07/75. The day that a permanent memorial to murdered Catholic and Protestant musicians will be deemed safe, will be the day that sanity has prevailed over madness.
On the 47th anniversary, we remember all the victims of "The Dublin and Monaghan Bombings". The largest loss of life in any day of 'The Troubles'. Those responsible are known to the authorities but were never charged; they also slaughtered The Miami Showband.

Robert "Robin" Jackson, leader of The Glenanne Gang that murdered up to 120 innocent people, was at The Miami Showband Massacre and, although he is dead, Britain's MOD and The PSNI refuse to release his files because he was their agent. Decent British people deserve to know this.
The Miami Showband - Christmas 1967. A long and proud history of bringing joy and happiness to millions of people across the island of Ireland and beyond. Now that’s a worthwhile legacy ♥️
Standing with all who have courageously campaigned for justice for their loved ones for almost half a century. No one should be above the law.

Tomorrow, people all over the world will remember “The Miami Showband Massacre”. Please also remember that it will be the 49th anniversary of the 1972 Claudy Bombings in which 9 people were murdered. There is not one day in the calendar that’s not an anniversary of some atrocity.
About an hour after the massacre, they took me out of the field and put me in an ambulance but when the driver began to move off, I grabbed the paramedic’s leg and told him we had to wait for the lads but he told me that we each had our own ambulance.
Thank you for all your support and encouragement following the release of our Netflix film today. I'm truly overwhelmed by your kindness. It's The Ray D'Arcy Show on RTE tomorrow night so I'll call this a day. Stay strong and safe.
Thanks to this brilliant surgeon, the late James Blundell, and his amazing team at Daisy Hill Hospital in Newry who saved my life on the morning of July 31st 1975, today is my 69th birthday. I will never forget you.
For decades, I was insulted by apologists for British state terrorism in Ireland and my eye-witness testimony ignored: Books written and documentaries made in defence of murderers and the highest military honours bestowed upon them. Those apologists will soon eat their own words.
In life and in death; Brian McCoy, a Protestant lad from County Tyrone and Fran O'Toole, a young Catholic from County Wicklow, continue to inspire.

Ever since she was a little girl, my daughter would draw pictures of the stories she heard. She drew this with colour pencils when I told her the ancient Irish story of Eisirt; it was her interpretation of Eisirt's journey to the court of Fergus mac Léti.
In 1975, my bass amp was in for a service at The Band Centre at the top of Harcourt Street in Dublin. When our roadie went to collect it, it wasn’t ready but Phil Lynott overheard the conversation and sent his huge Acoustic bass rig to where I was playing.

The Miami Showband Massacre film documentary, which will be available worldwide on Netflix from March 22nd, is terrifyingly brilliant and will shock the entire civilised world.
As he walked around the field, kicking and firing his pistol into the bodies of the murdered musicians, another soldier called from the road "Come on, I got those bas**rds with dum dums, they're dead". But I wasn't dead... I lived to tell you this.
My abiding memories include the furious obscenities of the soldiers as they kicked the bodies of my dead band mates, the smell of burning flesh and difficulty in breathing because my lung collapsed. The horror must never be sanitised, everyone must know the truth.
#JusticeForAll
Terrible, shameful and inexcusable things happened during the so-called ‘Troubles’ but terrible, shameful and inexcusable things also existed before the so-called ‘Troubles’. We must learn from the mistakes of the past so they will never be repeated.
Dum Dum bullets were used at The Miami Showband Massacre. I was struck in the right side with a Dum Dum bullet which exploded into sixteen pieces inside me, collapsing my left lung as it exited under my left arm. I lived; three of my band mates didn’t.

The British Government's proposed amnesty, for all murderers, is not primarily designed to ensure that its soldiers won't stand trial, it is to ensure that the British Government won't stand trial for murder under the glare of the civilised world. The last sting of a dying wasp!
I will have the memories and the bullet wounds to remind me, for the rest of my life, that this was too hard won to endanger. Don't let my experience become your experience or that of your children or their children's children. Protect the

On Thursday, December 23rd, 1971, exactly fifty years ago today, I first met Anne, and we’ve been married now for over forty-seven years. What a strong, courageous, beautiful, dignified lady she is and what an amazing journey it has been for both of us!

Since the release of "The Miami Showband Massacre" on Netflix last Friday, I've received countless calls and messages of congratulations and one of those very first calls was from my dear friend, Alan Black, the sole survivor of The Kingsmill Massacre.
Behind every atrocity of the so-called ‘Troubles’ lies unending agony, grief and, all too often, despair, so it is beyond cruel and doubly heart-breaking to see the suffering of victims used as political footballs by people who, ordinarily, do not give victims a second thought.
My thoughts, prayers and solidarity are with the thirty-four people, including an unborn child, murdered and the almost three-hundred people injured in ‘The Dublin and Monaghan Bombings’ fifty years ago today.

Should the opportunity arise, as an independent Senator in Seanad Éireann, I would faithfully represent all who have been affected by the conflict in Ireland, north and south, with all the energy I exercised in raising awareness of The Miami Showband Massacre around the world.
The soldiers who stopped us on the morning of July, 31st, 1975, didn’t discriminate between Catholics and Protestants, they bombed and shot us all.
#MiamiShowbandMassacre
By the last day in July 1975, the momentum of hate reached such a crescendo that, with my face pressed firmly against the grass and my eyes closed, I had to listen to the jackboot of sectarianism viciously kicking the dead body of my Protestant band-mate to make sure he was dead.
