They always talk about tribes being hostile towards "the explorers" but never seem to consider that the incredibly aggressive actions taken against the Taino on first contact would have sent shockwaves throughout the Caribbean, Mesoamerica, and the Southeast due to trade networks

This shouldn't bother me as much as it does but I wish there were more endangered languages on Duolingo and the fact that there are 517,000 ppl learning a fictional language when there are barely 2,000 ᏣᎳᎩ speakers left is just kinda disheartening

The fact that being mixed with Native and European is normalized but being mixed with West/Central African and Native is seen as needing a modifier/racial clarification to be understood is frustrating…

with non-Indigenous American peoples visiting should feel like. They were so respectful and persistent in making sure the people of that area were present and ready to welcome them, there was such a feeling of respect for us.

Because they’re deserts. They’re not supposed to be green and they serve as homes for many of our non-human relatives. A desert helps fertilize the biggest rainforest in the world, this planet is interconnected and f-ing around and finding out with deserts seems unwise.

I sincerely wish no one outside of NDN country had ever learned the words “blood quantum” WORDS HAVE MEANING AND YALL ARENT USING THEM RIGHT It’s quite infuriating to see people bring up blood quantum in a situation where it’s not even applicable YALL DONT KNOW WHAT IT MEANS

When Europeans got here (North America) they were demonstrably less “free” than Indigenous North Americans. Some nations couldn’t make a man fight in a war party if he didn’t want to. Some were governed by complete town consensus. Also women’s rights were generally better.

The natives of California lived in relative peace with the Spanish and Mexicans settlers. When the Americans arrived they were all wiped out in which 10,000 were enslaved and 100,000 killed and an untold number raped.

Also this is not about speaking up and bringing these facts up when it’s relevant, it’s about whenever ppl see an unambiguously Black Native person and then proceed to tell them their own history as if they don’t already know and experience the effects of it daily.

Sometimes it feels like people forget that we exist, and I'm sure 90% of the campus doesn't know we have a NASA. Whenever cultural clubs do things on campus we don't really get invited. Idk maybe I'm just feeling some type of way lol
