Biggest piece of advice to athletes in travel ball: Go to an organization that is going to develop you, improve your skills, grow your mind, challenge you, and prepare you for the next level. NOT the program that you “like” bc it has all your friends. Development > Comfort.

If you tell me you have a dream to play softball at the highest level, and you don’t watch any college softball or AU softball, I don’t believe you. ELITE athletes have a passion to WANT to study the best in the game. Prioritize actions that will get you to your goals!

Strongly encourage you softballers to switch 30 min of the time you spend on Tik Tok, & replace with watching hitting/fielding/pitching/catching drills, motivational speakers, or ANYTHING else that serves you in your sport that you tell me you love so much. STUDY THE GAME.📚

Yes you can still COACH. Get fired up, be passionate, hold these athletes to a high standard. But they HAVE to understand they have an identity and a purpose outside of just sport. Develop them as ballers, but also develop and evolve the human inside of them too!💪🏼

A good chunk of young athletes today really struggle with one thing: SACRIFICE. You can’t KIND OF sacrifice and be great. You can’t prioritize leisure activities and social hang outs over practice, games, etc and expect to be the best. It just simply won’t happen.

Dear young athletes: When you don’t perform on the weekends, do you ever reflect on your practice regimen? How are you getting upset you are 0 for 10 when you picked your bat up ONCE during the week? Poor Preparation = Poor Performance Results are EARNED. Put in the damn work.

I’ve never witnessed so many athletes needing to miss workouts , lessons, or practice to study for finals. Sacrifice ONE hour to still get your work in. We know you aren’t studying AND not on your phone for 6-7 straight hours 🤓

Biggest Softball Pet Peeve: Infielders letting the ball get through the infield without diving. Small % of balls we “can’t dive for” due to speed and direction; I’m not talking about those balls. Lay out ALL THE TIME and surprise yourself with what you stop / come up with 😳.

Nothing grosses me out more than watching a phenomenally talented collegiate athlete be the poorest teammate with the WORST body language after failure. You can’t be a leader/the standard only when you are successful. Get it together, theirs young athletes watching you.
