Having a boyfriend who is very casually into Pokemon is the worst. He will look at my screen and ask "what is that?", and I just have to answer Guzzlord. And now he is just dying of laughter instead of letting me explain how it is technically not a Pokemon but an ultra beast.
In Melee, a projectile is a fast hitbox that can be thrown out from far away that will pressure or even hit the opponent, possibly converting into a combo, while generally having little lag and being hard to punish. From this we conclude that Fox's full hop nair is a projectile
We can always learn something new and
@TSM_Leffen
did not know about so I thought I would share
M2s up b done straight up but not full up (around 0.9 iirc) will result in a NIL on BF. If you have firefox notches doing it into one of them might also work since m2 has fewer angles
Let’s say all of the current top 100 players quit the game all at the same time. All the story lines are dead and gone. Does the scene still continue or does it die?
I think we all agree that
@iBDWSSBM
is way too long and that he should get a new tag. I am suggesting he just removes some letters, rebranding to BDSM.
What is YOUR proudest play in a tournament match?
Making split second decisions with tournament nerves is one of the best feelings in melee. For me it has to be going for this in the last game of grand finals
I don’t remember exactly but a puff up threw me and I double jumped to side plat and the puff read the drift and the double jump exactly and rested me for it LMAO
Melee tournaments are great because it isn't about finding out who the best player is.
It is about finding who can play the best with blinding lights in your face, people screaming in your ear, venue freezing, little to no sleep, jetlag and food poisoning.
And that is beautiful
Sorry to everyone on unranked that had to deal with me trying to do this yesterday >.<
This is by far my dumbest and funniest tweet idea I have come up with.
Last night, Asuka got an 8 frame invincible ledgedash with Peach with a previously undocumented angle. It turns out that the angle range is significantly wider if Peach grabbed ledge later in up-b:
I had no part in this discovery, I'm just signal boosting
Here are some examples of when doing fox/falco's up b away from the stage to recover can help in spots where you otherwise would die.
I feel like I never see anyone do this anymore even though more people than ever play with boxes/notches.
Puff can cover every tech option with pound on YS and PS! The main use is vs Sheik as you can not RTC her, but also good if you can not afford to rest. Just be aware when they can slide off the pound. Overall a great high reward low risk option if used well.

Melee really still is a place where you can enable/encourage/take part in bullying people out of the scene and defend sexual harassers as long as you are good enough at the game.
The idolization of top players the scene has, and how easily we overlook things is mind-blowing.
I don't know if people agree with this but,
Melee (neutral) is not a reaction game, it is a pattern recognition game. Top players are not reacting to every move, they are looking for common patterns, creating reaction points to force decisions, or just playing true mix-up game
Some smaller dumb/lesser know things I never made a full tweet about
-Peach's side b simply does not interact with shielding opponents
-Mewtwo's side b does not transfer ownership of projectiles.
-Fox's slow turn around dodges missiles
-Pika goes further with a smash input side b
Hot take. I feel like box controllers have gotten so wide spread and so hard to regulate that we should just go all in and allow it.
Just like how sports would be cooler if you just had people drugged out of their mind, running 100m in 5 seconds and dying from a heart attack.
I decided to do a full flowchart that always lets Sheik kill Fox and Falco from a fair by ledge on Yoshi's. By drifting in and doing wall jump needle turn around you set yourself up to cover everything on reaction. This can also be useful vs Sheik and Falcon but they have mixups.
Ok so here's what happened. It has nothing to do with the techroll. You can ASDI down Fox's uair1 and land (at any % bc it's set kb), but uair2 normally hits during neutral landing lag after. Pip's SDI + the opponent's drift meant uair2 missed Fox but was in range of his shield.
As Marth vs Fox, if you grab someone RIGHT by the ledge one of 3 things can happen
1. Grounded grab release. Should give a free kill
2. Airborne grab release. About as good as f throw and most people are not ready.
3. You throwing. Normal edge guard/DI mixup
I love learning new things about melee and this blew me away that I had never heard of it.
Shield mine is a thing link can do by preforming a NIL which makes the shield box show up at a earlier location rather than where he is at.
I hate how the community sees dumping money into prize pots as "saving the scene" when giving the money to TOs would actually benefit more than 8 people who most likely don't need the money anyways.
It is obviously not bad but it is such a missed opportunity to make an impact.
Long time no see
Edge guarding in the ditto is hard when the opponent does tech jump bair or tech fast fall up b.
There is nothing wrong with just doing d tilt, but you should always kill them for trying to do tech bair, and you have tight counterplay against tech fast fall up b
Wake up babe, extended dash back just dropped!
When you dash to the ledge and stop holding the stick you will go into teeter. This can be used to extend dash dances in the corner. Mainly good to beat regular overshot attempts.

Here are some terms that often get mixed up.
Platform warp, platform drop/cancel and aerial interrupt.
All of them involve ECB manipulation but they all work in different ways.
Here is all of them in one combo ^^
A common mistake people do while trying to edge guard Marth is to hit him when he is going up with the up b.
You should delay the move a little bit because he can not grab right away.
Applicable for most characters but mainly useful in the ditto!
Normally trying to attack a Marth killer is a bad idea because you will be in so much lag and the opponent will be in a great spot to punish you.
But there is one exception! Doing a nair on the bottom part of their shield will hit them! And it always stage spikes on BF!
Really cool kill set-up I have never seen anyone do.
D-throw pivot jump bair. Usually it is hard for Samus to cover away DI but this lets her do it and kill at very low percent, even when she does not have charge shot.
My favorite
@Pipsqueak_TV
story is that at a random local I mentioned that I never had a mouse pad, and Pip just pulls out of his bag and hands it to me without elaborating.
I still use it today.
If Sheik cancels her needle charge the same frame she lands, they will stay in her hand. While this is a cool glitch, they are visible during her up b. This means the opponent can react to where you recover to way earlier. Same reason people dont use nametags with Sheik.
Hot take.
Most melee coaches are bad coaches but most melee students are bad students.
If you want to get better, then don't pay for an hour of random unprepared match analysis that 99% seems to be
Send in questions, request topics, make sure you get the most of your tome

When doing a dash forward, you are unable to dash back until you have spent 4 frames in dash. This does not apply if you start by dashing backwards. So for optimal chain grabs you should be doing pivot back grabs to beat slight DI. Mostly useful for marth vs fox at 12-20%
What if I released a 100 page guide on Marth vs Peach? I pretty much have it all written down, just need to translate, proof read and make gifs. I feel like pretty much no one would read it so it is hard to justify time on it.
The complete Marth vs Peach guide is now out!! 🥳
I know twitter hates links, so I would greatly apricate if people shared this. So much work has gone into this and I am happy with the results! ❤️❤️❤️
sometimes I think that I am lucky that I was treated like an adult when I entered the smash scene despite being 13 at the time, then I realise that all that meant was that I got offered weed all the time
Playing leffen on stream is always funny cause chat is like "who is this man?", "!ports", "is leffen the marth?" and leffen just calling me a b*tchass cheeser. And after being misgendered a lot I get hit by the "Oh that was May, ggs fun games".
It really is a wild ride :D
Probably the most underused option with ICs at the moment is forward throw into reverse dash attack. Against fox and falco this will combo into grab vs every DI working up until around 50% which should be enough to net you a kill almost always.
Okay, so hypothetically if I discover something very useful, but extremely degenerate in melee. Is the right things just to not release that information?
Right now Marth mains even at top level default to doing tech bair or tech drop down up b.
I think there are a lot of underexplored options with the main one being saving your good side b so you have access to doing tech side b to regrab ledge.
Marth has the best power shield in the game. This is because his PS bubble does not line up with his hurtbox when he does it during a dash or crouch. Other top tiers shield does not behave this way.
This means any moves/projectiles that does not hit low are free to power shield!
