There was a great segment on NBA-TV recently about Luka Dončić. He was asked about a wide variety of topics during a sit down interview with Allie LaForce. It's definitely worth a watch. Here is part one:

On the pivotal corner 3P from JJ Redick, the level of focus the Lakers had on Luka Doncic was incredible to think about. Even with Doncic standing at half-court, a sharpshooter like Redick was left completely alone in the corner. This extended the Mavs' lead to 7 with 3:00 left.

There was a great segment about Luka Dončić and the Mavericks on "The Bounce". •Brian Shaw says Dončić will finish top 5 in MVP voting and the Mavs will make the playoffs. •Gary Payton says the Mavs will 'go deep' in the playoffs and that Dončić will be an All-Star & All-NBA.

One of the more intriguing methods the Mavericks used to counter the Lakers' traps vs. Luka Doncic was the use of Spain P&R with JJ Redick. Redick was a ghost screen instead of setting a traditional back screen to pull an extra defender out of the passing window for Doncic.

If Luka Dončić records at least 20 points and 10 assists tonight against the Orlando Magic, he will have recorded those figures in three consecutive games. That would become the longest consecutive streak of performance with 20+ points and 10+ assists in Mavericks history.

I'd like to see the Mavericks use Luka Dončić more in the post throughout size to capitalize on his size and craftiness. So far this season, he has scored using an up-and-under step-through, drop steps, a baseline step-back, and by drawing fouls.

Kristaps Porziņģis is currently averaging 2.5 made 3-pointers and 2.7 blocks so far this season. He is on track to join Brook Lopez as the only players in NBA history to average at least 2 made 3-pointers and 2 blocks during a single-season.

Among all players that have at least 30 pick-and-pop possessions and rolls to the basket, Maxi Kleber and Aron Baynes are the only players to rank within the top five in PPP in both.

Luka Dončić now has three 30-point triple-double performances in his career. That surpasses LeBron James for the most in NBA history by a player under 21. Dončić now also has as many 30-point triple doubles before turning 21 as all other players in NBA history combined.

After the Mavericks' win over the Nuggets, they are now producing the 3rd most points per possession from half-court possessions in the NBA. The only two teams that are producing a higher rate of points per possession from half-court offense are the Clippers and Bucks.

Luka Dončić didn't play in the fourth quarter and Kristaps Porziņģis was able to rest for the whole game on the second night of a back-to-back. The Mavericks totaled 138 points against the Grizzlies. Ja Morant and Brandon Clarke didn't play but it was a good road win.
