If Real Madrid go on to win La Liga, it will be simple to explain: - Karim Benzema’s goals - Thibaut Courtois’ saves - Vinicius Junior’s spark And a special mention for the new CB duo of Alaba + Militao.

One of the great storylines from this UCL run: Carlo’s new found trust in his squad depth. There was a 6 game period from end of Jan - Feb where in 5 of those games (including 1st leg vs PSG) Camavinga did not make it off the bench. The one game he did play? Yanked at halftime.

Real Madrid’s model always meant a case like Leny Yoro could and would happen. Manchester United effectively tripled the offer on everything: salary, commission to agent, fee to club, etc. The reason Madrid is in the position they are today is because of said model.

On Mbappe: I do believe Mbappe and Madrid signed a pre-agreement in January, but not a contract. Similar to the Figo deal, where if the move ultimately doesn’t happen, the player has to pay the club a large sum of money which detracts from said player going back on the agreement.

Gareth Bale just produced the poorest 45 minutes I’ve seen from a Real Madrid forward in a very long time. I’m willing to bet that when Marco Asensio returns from his 9 month injury, he will produce more in a 15 minute cameo than what we just saw from the Welshman.

The club have proven that there does not have to be “transition seasons” with proper planning and persistence on long term goals (capturing best young talent and gradually integrating). 11/13 UCL semi final appearances is not a coincidence nor pure luck.

11 UCL semi final appearances out of 13 seasons is absolutely insane. Don’t care if you’re a football team or the avengers. Insane consistency.
