I don’t care what anyone says, but most of that budget should be given to the animation staff. Does someone really NEED more than 1-2mil for a few weeks of VO work? That 10mil divided amongst the actual animation studio staff could change lives.

Toy Story 5 is them getting lost at Disneyland, seeing the attractions and realising they’re in a franchise called Toy Story and that they’re actually digital puppets in a movie called Toy Story 5 and they get on a plane to San Fran to infiltrate Pixar to finally end their lives.

I just paid my first year of tax for my company! Also artists, you can save so much money if you create a company, hire yourself and then when freelancing, invoice from your company. You can claim your transport and even rent. Plus it’s a separate entity than you so it’s safer.

My Boy has a release date! It’s released in the U.S Jan 20th with two episodes airing December 20th! (One of them is my fav and has a new friend I designed) I’m so excited for you all to see this show. I also designed his bedroom here and the whole team made it look amazing.

Dear UK folks, the animation industry is ripping us off so bad it’s crazy. I went from being a lead designer on a show to just freelancing props on a US show and the pay difference is...big. And the freelance contract is longer than the one the studio offered.

If I’ve said it once I’ll say it a thousand times: Themed exercise spaces for adults. Give me an fitness theme park with different worlds with items to collect, teamwork, stories etc. Mummy’s tomb, Sci-Fi spaceship etc etc. Gyms be dull, gameify it.

And honestly, neither one is a good indicator of a good studio employee. I’ve seen some of the best artists with beyond 100k following not be able to change up their style, meet deadlines or simply do what the job requires. Getting hired is one thing, staying hired is harder.

@Evilkatto @WryCritic The idea that CG is cheaper than 2D is so outdated. Look at budgets of CG animated movies and then look at budgets for films like Klaus or any Cartoon Saloon film. They’re just harder to make because you are completely dependent on the artists drawing skills as well as animation.

PSA: if you want to break into in character design, please at the very least have character turnarounds and expressions in your portfolio. 🙏 They're a huge part of the job and you need to actually show recruiters you can do them - they're not just going to take your word for it.

It’s quite rare when you get a big chunk of a main set (didn’t know each episode would start/end here) and it comes out exactly how you wanted. In no small part to the additional designers, modellers, look dev and lighting artists who made it look so cosy and inviting.
