Yesterday I was privileged to meet the trailblazing
@MamaDaktari
, Director of the Center of Excellence for Women and Child Health at the AKU, Nairobi. What an incredible moment discussing advancing the WHO Global Breast Cancer Initiative agenda and what can do better.
A new study from Scotland published just five days ago has confirmed that indeed HPV vaccines work! Need for more studies like these to inform advocacy and policy to beat cervical cancer.

Congratulations to
@FirstLadyMbt
(pictured seated), a real champion for cervical cancer elimination with whom we have walked the journey making this possible. We got the highest level advocacy needed! Let’s get our girls 10-14yrs vaccinated and women screened
@CancerProgramKE
President Ruto urges women leaders to sensitive & promote vaccination of girls at the age of 9-15 years against cervical cancer, as a parent of girl child its your responsibility to encourage your daughter to be vaccinated for her benefit.

My daughter just made my day.. D:Where did the locusts go mum?
Me:Oh yeah, the locusts... good question what happened to them?
D: Perhaps they are working from home coz of Corona virus...
LOL!
Today is International HPV awareness day! There are 14 high risk HPV types and persistent infection can cause six types of cancer including cervical cancer. You can prevent HPV infection through vaccination and other risk reduction strategies.

I am humbled today to join the Moi High School Kabarak fraternity for the Annual Candidates Prayer day! Thankful for the opportunity for my two daughters to attend this great institution and especially for Vanessa who is sitting her exams. God bless Kabarak and all candidates!

@CancerProgramKE
We encourage women between 25-49 years of age to also visit their nearest health facilities for screening as they take their 10-14 year old daughters for vaccination.
We conducted our first ever annual breast cancer surgical-pathology preceptorships where practical sessions in surgery, pathology, medical oncology were conducted with two MRMs, biopsies and lab sessions and MDT discussions were held. Great learning experiences!
Addressing pathologists and surgeons during the ongoing breast cancer surgical preceptorship in Meru, NCCP head Dr Mary Nyangasi emphasized on the importance of acquiring skills in early breast cancer detection as a way of reducing cases.

I worked very closely with Dr. Kagia in scaling up the cervical cancer program in Kenya in the last 5 years. She was very instrumental in establishing colposcopy program. What a loss to the women and country at large! Will miss her dearly..

Dr. Amin was a teacher and mentor to many... A pioneer gynaeoncologist who was so passionate about his work and dedicated to the care of his patients. He will be truly missed. May his soul rest in peace.
