Pal Pal Bai Jana... Dr. Karan Singh has been singing Dogri folk songs since his childhood! He was encouraged by his parents especially his mother, Maharani Tara Devi who was from Kangra.

Different communities in Jammu & Kashmir wear different types of turbans, locally known as Pagdi or Safas!
I invite J&K youth to reply to this tweet with their turban pics!

“It has been a unique privilege to have participated in the evolution of free India for seventy years!” - Dr. Karan Singh Ji
On this day, 1949 he was appointed Regent of Jammu & Kashmir by Maharaja Hari Singh marking the beginning of a 70 year long career in public life.
While Covid19 cases are rising in Jammu & Kashmir, this is social distancing in Sopore, North Kashmir. People attending funeral procession of a terrorist. Sad and shocking.
My sympathies with the authorities and agencies who are already overstretched and working overtime.
I am not a Kashmiri, I am a Dogra. Dr. Karan Singh Ji asserts his Jammu - Dogra identity while discussing Jammu & Kashmir with
@ThePrintIndia
Says he has great regard for Kashmiris but he is an ethnic Dogra from Jammu.
My respectful homage to the Founder of the erstwhile state of Jammu & Kashmir, Maharaja Gulab Singh Ji on his 229th Birth Anniversary. Remembering his enormous contributions and achievements which remain unmatched till today.
Did you know; Re-organization of Jammu & Kashmir was first suggested in 1966 by Dr. Karan Singh. He demanded a fair-share for Jammu and his proposal was to ensure a fair deal for all three regions of the state. Sadly, at the time this received no support from Jammu or Kashmir.
I pay tributes to my ancestor, Maharaja Hari Singh Ji of Jammu & Kashmir on his punya tithi. Remembering his many contributions as one of the most progressive and reformist Rulers of Princely India!
I feel fortunate and proud to have been a part of this unforgettable event wherein the Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri
@narendramodi
recognised and honoured the contribution of my family and the Dogras of Jammu & Kashmir towards development of Hindu religion and humanity!
Wishing my grandfather, Dr. Karan Singh Ji, a Happy Birthday as he turns 87 today! Blessed to be living with and learning from him!
That’s him below, with his father Maharaja Hari Singh at Amar Mahal, Jammu 1930s And at Sarthal Devi Mandir, Kishtwar in the 1970s.
Delighted to join my Grandfather, Dr. Karan Singh Ji and

What is your first destination after lockdown?
Reasi is one of my favourite districts in Jammu region. My most memorable roadtrip last year in April was from Ramban to Reasi through beautiful areas of Sangaldan, Gool, Mahore, Chasana, Dharmari... Dagantop was the highlight!
Did you know; Kashmir University did not have a campus! In the 1950s, Dr. Karan Singh then Chancellor & Head of State, donated 120 acres of his private orchard (Amar Singh Bagh) near Hazratbal, to the University which is the magnificent site on which the present campus stands!
not so ironically Kashmir was one of the first places where people died asking for his blood. Or why KU was cleaned up by tahreek. Why VC would be targeted. Manufacturing consent.

Tributes to the Founder of Jammu & Kashmir, Maharaja Gulab Singh on his 228th Birth Anniversary. His military prowess and strategy along with his formidable Dogra soldiers and Generals were responsible for extending the northern boundaries of India!
Books on politics and history of Jammu & Kashmir I would like to try reading during lockdown! Thought I would share the names for others interested. Also not included in the image are; Biography of Maharaja Gulab Singh by KM Panikkar and Crisis in Kashmir by Pyarelal Koul.
History is always full of rogue elements attempting to distort the truth! Such false propaganda is a big disservice to two of the greatest martial races, the Sikhs & Dogras who extended the boundaries of India. General Zorawar Singh was a Dogra Rajput from Himachal.

@DikshaKaluria1
Hahahah 😂😂😂
I can only laugh on those statements.
Let's do one thing, Maharaja Gulab Singh's descendant
@vikramaditya_JK
&
@Martand_JK
knows better about the descendant of Gen Zorawar right?
Why don't you ask them. You will know the reality.
Instead of talking Military & Diplomatic strategy/ response some Media channels are debating 'Congress vs. PM Modi/ BJP'. We are in a National crisis for Gods sake! Request our Media to please focus on the issue at hand and boosting National morale. China is in our territory!
My family and I have publicly supported the creation of a separate Ladakh UT. It was a long-pending demand of the Ladakhi people since 1960s. Erstwhile J&K was lost in 1947, we are in 2020 now. Lets move on, accept realities and give justice to the people of all regions of J&K.
@Martand_JK
Ladakh has been carved out of Jammu and Kashmir, you have been silent on that. JK has been divided forever and there is no resentment.
Hari Singh had saved JK from every eye. JK is lost and we have failed collectively.
We must never forget the massacre of Hindus of Jammu & Kashmir. As a country we should be ashamed of falling short of even acknowledging the truth, pain and suffering of the thousands of victims let alone delivering them justice.

Maharaja Hari Singh Ji always believed that he was an Indian first then a Maharaja. At the London Round Table Conference 1931 he said that India must be independent. In 1947, despite political & military pressure he signed the instrument of accession to join the Indian Union. 🇮🇳
Maharaja Hari Singh started offering accession to India since late August 1947. He knew that his time was limited then, as he was under serious pressure from Pakistan, and India was not willing to even TALK to the Maharaja till he released Sheikh Abdullah from prison.
A beautiful map that shows the geopolitical and strategic importance of The Dogra Empire of Jammu & Kashmir! Its vast borders stretched upto the Soviet Union, China, Tibet, Afghanistan and Central Asia!

More on J&K University -
Surprisingly, papers from Jammu went to Srinagar for evaluation. In 1966, Dr. Karan Singh set up a separate, self-contained structure in Jammu with its own campus under eminent economist Dr. B.N. Ganguly. A few years later this became Jammu University.
In the SherGarhi Palace on the banks of river Jhelum, Srinagar lies the Shri Gadadharji Temple. A unique blackstone murti of a four faced avatar of Lord Vishnu where in addition to his own face there is a Narsimha, Varaha and Kritimukha. It is maintained by J&K Dharmarth Trust.
Amar Mahal Palace, Jammu! Private residence of Dogra dynasty, it also houses a unique Museum & Library that was created by dogra scion, Dr. Karan Singh in 1975!

Would like to see how the Congress plans to win Madhya Pradesh & Rajasthan in the future without Scindia & Pilot. As a youth of the nation I am deeply disappointed with the principal opposition party for letting go two of their strongest youth icons so easily and helplessly.
