Macaque realizing that, during all this time, the face of whom has been torturing/threatening him for the past few months is actually the face of a child who has been enduring just as much pain and torture.
A thread about Sun Wukong and his way of dealing with grief:
To start off, although the pilgrims were probably Wukong’s most dear companions, most of the information we get on them and their journey isn’t explicitly shared by Wukong, but rather by retellings of third parties.

Thinking about how the only reason Mk came back is because sacrificing himself didn’t mean his friends would get to be safe. He only went back to find another way to keep them safe, there was no moment where he thought of himself… Mk makes me sick…

Welp boys, time to brainstorm what way Sun Wukong will be somewhat incapacitated next season. It will definitely happen, but how? 🤔 /hj
Has anyone considered that perhaps the reason Macaque keeps offering himself to help rescue Wukong is because he may feel guilty about not being able to rescue him from his punishment in the mountain?
(There’s a lot more to consider, but this is the ditch I chose to fall in)
A quick thread🧵:
Canonically, I think they’re supposed to be the same height due to being legos. Most instances of height difference are accidental or made with intent of portraying something. Like in S1E9, Macaque is taller than Mk to show how Mk feels small in the situation
Anyone worried about what the shining eyes might mean in those scenes? And if they are like Mk when he entered the monkey form, close to losing control over his powers and being more agressive than usual… or something
Tang saying this type of thing and also guessing that the Trigram furnace was in Jade Emperor’s throne room is the reason why I have trust issues. What does this guy know that I don’t?
I would like to let shadowpeach fans know that in that brazilian song “the sun proposed to the moon” there’s a part in which the moon complains about the sun commenting on how “he doesn’t even shower”
I kinda of finished building him, is his head too big? Probably, but I think it looks alright :)
It was a fun experience, I'm glad I didn't give up, I'll paint him later and show you guys the result once it's done :D
This other one too, I don’t really feel like finishing it anymore :’)
Basically, one headcanon that I have is that Bai He’s parents were gardeners/florists and that’s why they named their daughter Bai He (Lily)
So this is a drawing of Bai He and her mother

I went to look a bit into it, it's mostly a diversion between catholic and protestant. There's also parts that lead to believe that they aren't related by blood, but I would have to look a bit more into it. Thanks for answering though! <3
These are the only colored drawings I have for now, they look a bit messy, but I was still pretty happy with them when they came to be, anyway… it will take a while until I’m able to draw again

In S2E7, during Macaque’s shadowplay, Wukong is always portrayed in higher ground so Macaque can indicate Wukong going ahead and leaving him behind in his shadow.
(There’s also the use of perspective and angles)
Such as when DBK had to reveal the origin story of the samadhi fire and the pilgrims involvement with it in.
Mayor’s retelling of Lady Bone Demon’s imprisonment.
And more recently, the bits shared with Mk by Azure Lion and later on by Macaque within the scroll.
That’s why being stuck in the scroll affected Wukong so much, he was forced to face situations he regretted and couldn’t do anything to change or fix, Wukong has committed lifetimes worth of mistakes and seeing all of them piling up made him feel hopeless.
It’s also worthy of mention how Azure and Macaque have addressed more of their relationship with Wukong and its fallout than Wukong himself. Those topics are clearly painful to both of them, but yet they were able to give this information to Mk.
My point is, Wukong probably has a hard time sharing information because he is avoidant towards his past. His way of dealing with grief is precisely not dealing with it, not talking about it, he’s avoiding grief.
There’s only one exception to that and it’s in the episode “The samadhi fire” S03E10.
Wukong only retells the incident from his point of view because an explanation was demanded from him when things got out of hand, it’s likely that otherwise he wouldn’t have shared it.
This method of coping comes from a desire that Wukong may have in avoiding unpleasant experiences and feelings. He’s doing it as an attempt to block out, reduce or change unpleasant thoughts and emotions associated with his past.
None of those informations came from Wukong, even when he’s literally the best candidate to share them. All throughout the duration of the show, he doesn’t really talk about anything involving his past, it’s always others speaking for him.
This could be why he didn’t tell Mei about the fourth ring. Could be why he looked so pensive with the drawings of the pilgrims. Could be why he asks Mk to destroy the mural of the pilgrims. Could be why he never got rid of the rock with his and Macaque’s drawing.
It’s also recommended that you pick the same season to compare the heights.
This is the height difference between Wukong and Mk in season 1 and season 3, respectively.
And the Macaque and Mk height difference, season 1 and season 4 (this is the most visible I could find)
Wukong was willing to do anything as a way of guaranteeing that what he loved and cherished the most would last forever, only for him to lose sight of why he was doing any of it and accidentally put an end to it himself.
Then, after years, he joins the pilgrims in a journey to improve himself, become better and guarantee that he wouldn’t make the same mistakes again, but after all his efforts he still ended up alone.
When the pilgrims died Wukong didn’t have anyone else to turn to or grieve with, he was most likely alone throughout all of it. So he did the next best thing, avoid grieving. Which has lead Wukong to extreme self isolation and to repress his own emotions.
Wukong deals with a lot of loss and guilt, he avoids talking about it, but those things still linger with him and deeply affect how he acts towards others.
Anyway, that’s the end of my thread, I hope you guys enjoyed. I’m sorry if this has any incorrect information, I didn’t rewatch lmk to make this, feel free to correct me in case anything is wrong
@feathereddd
These two are going to have so much beef when mentoring MK, I could hear it for a mile away. Wukong tells him to listen to people, Macaque tells him to listen to himself, both are right if they manage to balance it out.

There’s multiple instances of this in the show, but after season one and once the show improves its artstyle, making the characters designs more stable, the height difference like in this scene stops and we have more use of angles and perspective to portray this kind of things
@WyvernsWill
Sandy already had his development, but I really want further information on him, like- more character exploration. Anon might have meant that, but used the wrong word
