The war in Ukraine is NOT the reason for increasing energy prices in Australia Australia doesn't import any coal or gas! The reason is that our governments have handed control of our resources to foreign owned energy giants who are forcing us to compete for our own resources.

Understand that the 96% foreign-owned LNG gas export companies currently making windfall profits from gouging Australian customers for our own gas, are using the energy crisis they have created to push for new gas fields that will allow them export more of our gas.

Let me try and explain the monumental incompetence of the mismanagement of Australia's gas resources. Vast amounts of gas is exported from Australia, but not by Australians. Its exported by a handful of predominantly foreign owned multinational gas corporations, 🧵👇1/10

The war in Ukraine has raised global gas prices but is not the cause of high gas prices in Australia because we don’t import gas. The cause is LNG producers deliberately linking Australian gas to the global market so they CAN charge us global prices… for our own gas.

New ACCC report shows LNG producers taking more gas from domestic market. Let’s be clear, this gas goes to global spot market to cash in on high global prices. Every day we don’t have windfall profits tax is a day ordinary Australians pay for LNG windfall profits #auspol

It’s not a new tactic. It’s called legal intimidation by multibillion oil and gas corporates of under-resourced environmental and indigenous groups trying to protect nature and cultural heritage. And it’s disgusting.
