All good things come to an end. It’s time to hand the
@IpswichTown
mic over to someone new. After 40 years broadcasting my voice isn’t as strong as it was, so for health reasons I’m stepping down. It’s been great fun seeing Town get back in the top flight.

! 👏💪🥳
It is with much sadness that I have to confirm the death in the early hours of this morning of my dear friend and
@BBCSuffolk
co-host Kevin Beattie. Kevin was undoubtedly the greatest ever
@Official_ITFC
Town player and his family have asked me to make the announcement.
#RIPBeat
I appear to be making the news, truly shocked to receive an MBE. A massive thanks to those who nominated me,to all my colleagues past and present
@BBCSuffolk
and to all our listeners, I couldn’t do it without you 🙏🙏🙏🙏
We’ve done it!
All the money needed for the greatest ever
#itfc
player’s statue has been raised.
Kevin Beattie will be honoured at Portman Road.
Thank you for everything.

What a morning! Thank you for all your support and good wishes on the MBE. I’d like to say thank you to those who nominated me and to those who’ve worked with me over the last 30 years. This is for you. It was handed over by the Duke of Cambridge who was lovely!
@lesleydolphin
Thank you so much to Mark Ashton and everyone
@IpswichTown
for my amazing leaving gift. 33 years at
@BBCSuffolk
hence the number and signed too!

My last Life’s a Pitch at noon.
Time to draw a line under the disaster that was Paul Lambert and let’s all now get behind Paul Cook. For the first time in a long time I’m excited again, play offs in our reach! So come on let’s ALL get behind
@IpswichTown
again and enjoy being a town fan once more.
#COYB
..
@IpswichTown
have taken it upon themselves to ban
@twtduk
legend and great supporter of
@IpswichTown
Phil Ham. A journalist doing his job. Come on Town you need the local media, the nationals certainly aren’t interested!
Happy 30th birthday to the best radio station in the world,
@BBCSuffolk
#ProperLocalRadio
To everyone who’s played a part in its success, you should feel very proud.
Ps Old photo!
So sad to hear
@IpswichTown
great
@Paul_Mariner
has passed away. Reunited with Sir Bobby and Beat. RIP from all the Life’s a Pitch team
@BBCSuffolk
He was always a great guest on the show.
It is so miserable being an
@IpswichTown
fan at the moment. No excitement and no fun it's just boring, same old excuses week in week out. I've been a fan for 50 years and I'm struggling now. How are you feeling after the latest defeat? More

breakfast all morning.
Brian in Melton has been on my
@BBCSuffolk
breakfast show talking about stockpiling and panic buying of loo rolls because of the
#coronavirusus
the
@EADT24
could come in handy! Feel free to share his wisdom!
Just wish this current crop of
@IpswichTown
players would pull on the shirt and fight for the badge like Butcher, Beattie, Hunter, Holland and many others did.
Words fail me. Just when you think it couldn’t get any worse. A strong
@IpswichTown
team against Exeter reserves. We start the new decade as we finished the last one. Shocking.
The
@BBCSuffolk
Life's a Pitch team is devastated at the passing of our dear friend who regailed us with so many great stories, the best ones were off air!
@Official_ITFC
have just told me there will be a minutes applause on Tuesday night

Breaking news!

Saturday lunchtime. He's talking about Towns promotion chances and his

diagnosis. Don't miss it, any chance of a retweet? Plus Butcher, McCall and Thijssen.

After yesterday’s defeat, we are in deep do do. Relegation would be a disaster for
@Official_ITFC
So let’s ALL roll up our sleeves and get behind the team. Time to pull together. I know it’s what Beat would say!

#ITFC
I personally wish
#PaulLambert
all the best as manager of
@Official_ITFC
I don't care where he's managed before, he's got a tough job but hopefully with Marcus Evans moving early not too much damage has been done by Hurst and Doig.

Loving Mick Mills
@BBCSuffolk
telling it how it is. Talking a lot of sense about where
@IpswichTown
are at the moment. Too many team changes, too big a squad and seemingly a manager who doesn’t know his best formation or line up.
Calling all
@IpswichTown
fans, I’ll have a major announcement for you on Tuesday morning. It’s embargoed until 7am, tune in to my
@BBCSuffolk
breakfast show live from Portman Road. You’ll be glad you did.

Tell ya friends #
#UpTheTowen
Utter shambles today at Portman Road!
@IpswichTown
need some quality coaches! Here are two that are local and available! Terry Butcher and
@RussellOs5
they’d sort the defence out.
#COYB
We are an embarrassment at the moment!
The funeral of my dear friend and
@BBCSuffolk
colleague Kevin Beattie takes place today .... We'll be paying tribute to our legend in residence throughout the show from 7am with Hunter, Butcher, Osman and Dozzell.

Good luck to everyone
@IpswichTown
today. Gutted I can’t be on the mic today. Pneumonia means I failed a late fitness test! Don’t forget to make some noise for the Tractorboys!

This is now looking very worrying. As I said last week if we don’t get out of this crap league this season, we’ll be here for a very long time. Should’ve strengthened and freshened in the window.
Please share……Morning all

fans. Life’s a Pitch TV is coming to YouTube and Podcast. Subscribe now! Details and full story below. New kit and new show all in one day!

It's my last Life's a Pitch

fanzine show over the years. It's been a great ride!

Happy birthday to the greatest
@IpswichTown
player The Beat. So proud to have worked with you and become your friend. I loved our Saturdays together

Another day of utter traffic chaos affecting not just
#Ipswich
but the UK’s premier container port at
#Felixstowe
. We must have a northern by pass for Ipswich, ironically the roads where people don’t want one we’re clogged anyway!
My overwhelming feeling about
@Official_ITFC
situation is utter sadness. I feel for the fans because I’m one of them but especially the kids who’ve never seen Town do anything much in recent years. Please give us something to smile about! Sad sad times.
#COYB
My thoughts in the
@EADT24
on the sorry state
@IpswichTown
finds itself in. Fifty years a fan and never felt so low as a supporter. I want to feel excited on a match day again. We are at best stagnating. Sad times.
Feel free to retweet

To say we are devastated at the passing of Simon is a massive understatement. He has been a huge part of our lives
@BBCSuffolk
We will be paying tribute on today’s Life’s a Pitch.
It is with great sadness that I’ve been asked to let all Simon’s followers know that he passed away early this morning at the age of 65 after a short battle with pancreatic/liver cancer. He was surrounded by his family, as well as the love & prayers of his many friends... (1/2)
Feel free to share!
