Okay so that Stand Out comedy special on Netflix? I was ushering at the Greek that night, all the performers were wonderful, and just about everyone who went on made jokes, statements, or gestures in support of the trans community. Netflix edited nearly all of them out.

I’m not kidding when I say that daytime TV shows like Good Morning Britain, This Morning, Loose Women, Jeremy Vine etc… are one of the biggest causes of right-wing radicalisation in this country, thanks to how badly they frame any topical discussion or debate.

It’s very telling to me that the “gender critical” complaints about Jordan Grey on Friday Night Live only really kicked off yesterday, after the news started reporting on it, not when it happened live. They’ve actively sought it out to get angry about it, it’s all performative.

I’d suggest that an actual feminist protest about Primark probably wouldn’t be focused on the changing rooms, but on the conditions that the mostly female staff in the factories globally have to work in to produce their clothes. Evidently transphobes don’t care for their rights.

It’s very telling as to how terminally online the transphobic “gender critical” movement is that they feel so genuinely aggrieved when somebody stops them from being able to reply to a tweet. Their plans for the day are ruined without the ability to argue on the internet.

If you’re watching a late-night comedy show, which, I can not stress enough, is not a sex or gender-segregated space, and thinking “women have a right to spaces free from” a trans person, then that is full-on mask-off fascism. It’s saying trans people shouldn’t exist in public.
