Day 7: The moment when it hits you. You've coded more in a week for
#100DaysOfCode
than you have in the last 5 years.
You didn't need to go to a bootcamp. You were making excuses. Knowledge was always at reach. You love this. You wish you had started sooner.
Now keep going 💪
You see a video update for
@_buildspace
every week, but you don't see the 70 different videos in my library that didn't make the cut. 👹 Perfectionism is hell
Whenever anyone asks why I want to code I think about this quote:
"We are called to be architects of the future, not its victims"
We are at the onset of a paradigm shift in society via technology and I want to take an active role on it
What is your reason to do
#100DaysOfCode
?
Day 1 of
#100DaysOfCode
:
Back to the challenge as I begin a bootcamp at
@Concordia
having quit my UX job to focus full-time on learning code.
Going over the HTML lesson I realize this was the easiest class of the rest of my life. Exponential difficulty increase incoming 😬
Day 5: Yes I knew learning web development was hard but no one prepare me for how quickly I would be jumping out of bed in the morning beaming with happiness and excitement at the prospect of gaining a a ton of new knowledge in the shortest amount of time possible
#100DaysOfCode
Day 3: Crying, sobbing, throwing up. We learned about functions, functions within functions and methods. Today has been hard AF ngl
Some already feel behind. Mad respect to anyone in this journey pushing through the beginner's discomfort.
My brain is jello rn 🫠
#100DaysOfCode
Just learned about the mind-blowing fusion of Web3 and science at the
@desciworld
talk 🌐🔬 Imagine democratized research funding, global collaboration, and accelerated discoveries. The future is here, and it's reshaping science 🚀✨
#WEB3
Day 2: Bootcamp is no joke. We covered 80% of the content I had previously learned about Javascript in one day. 😬
Variables, strings, numbers, booleans, arrays, objects, basic operators, maths, comparisons, logical operators, while and for loops, if statements.
#100DaysOfCode
@ContraPoints
Oof that's rough. No wonder why his daughter wanted to cut ties. It's tragic really cause I'm sure his support would have meant the world to her. 💔
You would think that someone who struggled with severe bullying as a neurodivergent child would grow up to be very empathetic.
Day 3: Set up my terminal, connected it to my GitHub account, then built and pushed this hypnotic project following a tutorial 👇
Don’t ask me to create it from scratch but I’m hoping the concepts will sink in with enough repetition. 😬
#100DaysOfCode
Day 30: Don't mind me, I'm just rubber duck debugging.
Working on React non-stop for the past couple of days. Focused on state, hooks, components and styling.
#100DaysOfCode
Day 29 of
#100DaysOfCode
:
🟡 Bootstrap forms
🔴 Bootstrap navbars
🟢 Bootstrap icons
One of those days in which my ADHD is off the charts and could barely focus for hours. If this happened to you as well, it's OK, we are human.
Rest up and come back to it tomorrow.
Day 25 of
#100DaysOfCode
Every time it feels like I know everything there is to know about a subject (CSS), life reminds me that I know nothing via new courses.
🟡 Memorizing Emmet shortcuts
🔴 CSS pseudo elements / class
🟢 Chrome Dev Tools
🔵 Parent and sibling combinators
Day 14:
🔹 Grabbed data from CoinDesk to display the latest Bitcoin price in USD, GBP and EUR using an API.
🔹Wow felt the glorious thrill of debugging by finding the error in the console and using Stack Overflow✨😱😍🤟😎
#100DaysOfCode
#WomenWhoCode
Day 5:
✧ Created repo to host my 100DaysOfCode projects
✧ Completed lists, links and images sections
@theodinproject
✧ Worked 100% on VSCode and terminal
✧ Followed zippy tutorial from
@superhi_
…
✩ Finally done before midnight 💃
#100DaysOfCode
Day 2 notes: I spent most of the time figuring out what's the best route for learning. Too many options can be overwhelming and make you feel paralyzed and stuck.
I aim to start using GitHub asap and create a learning log to be more intentional and set goals.
#100DaysOfCode
Day 46:
From Udemy's Web Developer Bootcamp
🟣 Array random access
🔵 Push and pop
🟡 Shift and unshift
🔴 Concat, indexOf, includes & reverse
From the news
🟠 Unlocked new anxiety with Russia officially declaring a war with Ukraine 2 hours ago
#100DaysOfCode
Day 57:
@freeCodeCamp
exercises:
🟡 Selecting from many options with switch statements
🟢 Replacing if Else chains with switch
🔵 Returning boolean values from functions
🟣 Return early pattern for functions
#100DaysOfCode
Day 16: Building smol games with Javascript events.
🟣 You can only choose one element with GetElementById
🔵 You need to use classes and querySelectorAll if you want to pick more than one element at a time
🟢 QuerySelector comes in handy to select one class
#100DaysOfCode
Day 48: I took hours building a site from an advanced Javascript and CSS tutorial. It's ready but now I can't figure out how to upload it to Github with a custom domain and it's 1:30 am. To be continued tomorrow I guess. 🥲
Anybody have enough hours in their day?
#100DaysOfCode
Day 54: Work in progress with
@kodelife
project, can't wait to show you all the results really soon.
Also any baby devs in Toronto? I would love to make new friends while I'm here 🤗
#100DaysOfCode
Day 21: My first dive into object oriented programming. I loved this exercise because it reminded me of RPG games and tamagotchis. 😸
#100DaysOfCode
#100daysofcoding
Happy Cinco de Mayo! Beyond excited to announce that I have joined the
@pinatacloud
team this week. From day one, it has been clear that they prioritize a culture of innovation and kindness.
Can't wait to collaborate and help shape the future of content. 🚀
#design
#web3
Day 52: Hanging by a thread in the Death Valley of learning how to code. Finally figured out how to work with
@kodelife
and it sprinkled some hope. Note to self: Coding bootcamps are too much $$$ to give up now.
Shaders for web project coming soon.
#100DaysOfCode
#WomenWhoCode
Do you often feel like abruptly jumping into more advanced and interesting programming subjects during
#100DaysOfCode
when you're still on the basics? Because me too.
Day 13: Rough day. Followed a tutorial to add a progress bar. Made use off if/else statements tied to colour.
Sadly stuck with some errors and it's 2 am, I'll come back to fix it tomorrow with a sharper mind👩🏻💻
Remember to not give up.
#100DaysOfCode
Day 23: We received several script files and were tasked with adding a way to end the game upon collision and customizing it as much as we wanted using everything we've learned in the bootcamp so far.
I turned it into Scott Pilgrim vs Covid⚡️
#100DaysOfCode
Day 2: So grateful for everyone's encouragement ✨ Today I built a simple first project from
@superhi_
focused on HTML tags. I used stills from my favourite movies to spice it up.
Can you guess the name of the 10 films showcased? 😉
#100DaysOfCode
Day 9:
✧ Followed tutorial to add a tipjar that connects a digital wallet (
@MetaMask
) to the Ethereum blockchain
✧ Planning to finally sleep at a decent time tonight 🥲
#100DaysOfCode
#web3
💡 I definitely recommend setting a Github repo for your 100DaysOfCode projects.
This is the best way imo to track and see how you started and how far you will get in this journey, each day incrementally. Motivation 101
I can't wait to see what we will build. 🤩
#100DaysOfCode
Day 20:
We've made it to Javascript, folks
♦️Learning as much as possible about its 8 basic data types.
♦️ Undestanding conditionals and strings
Via
@theodinproject
May the force be with us all who will walk the Javascript path this week.
#100DaysOfCode
#WomenWhoCode
Day 3: Decided my main source of wisdom will be
@TheOdinProject
due to the problem solving focus of their curriculum, instead of passively watching tutorials, but I will use
@Superhi_
as a visual treat to stay motivated.
What are your learning resources? 📚
#100DaysOfCode
Day 58: yeah sex is cool but can you imagine getting no errors in your code? 😪
Failing at getting this real-time GPU shader editor to do what I want it to do.
#100DaysOfCode
#WomenWhoCode
Let's be real the only highlight that
truly mattered on Day 3 of my
#100DaysOfCode
was that I found
the playlist of my dreams for
programming. 🪐✨
You can bet I'll have this on repeat
during my entire coding bootcamp.
Day 55: I kept hearing about this resource so today I read through Mozilla's dev documentation on JavaScript's first steps, building blocks, objects and Asynchronous JavaScript. Lots of gems in here.
How often do you read documentation? 🥺
#100DaysOfCode
Day 36 of
#100DaysOfCode
: I fell sleep trying to debug my project of the day last night. Computer on my lap and all. I must aim to NEVER start coding past 10 pm again. 🥲
Today I'll make up for it.
I've just created my first NFT at 2:25 AM, day 4 of COVID isolation and I'm excited beyond words. 🥺 Thanks for the fab UX
@MetaMask
,
@opensea
and
@ftx_app
that allowed a web 3 n00b like me to get started without getting too lost and discouraged.
Day 51: Worked on the first half of a project on kinetic type using my beloved javascript. 😍
For the second half of this challenge I will switch my strategy to coding before starting work or before 8 pm. Hoping for life changing improvements tbh.
#100DaysOfCode
#CodeNewbie
Day 23 of
#100DaysOfCode
:
Did you all noticed that
@TheOdinProject
has just released an Intermediate HTML/CSS course?
I want to cover all my bases so taking a step back from Javascript to go over the contents of this. Good timing.
Would you do the same?
#CodeNewbie
This is my favourite cheat sheet for git. I'm sure it will aid you during the arduous and unpredictable path of your
#100DaysOfCode
journey. 🧙🏻♂️
Thank you for creating it
@tfnico
&
@fhd
! 🤗
Day 8, 3:39 am: Absolutely gutted that I was working through a tutorial and got stuck with an error.
Went back to
@TheOdinProject
to read about CSS selectors.
They say sometimes you have to step away from a problem to solve it. We learned today though.
#100DaysofCode
Me in 2020: I can't quit my job now to code full-time in the middle of a pandemic, there is so much uncertainty ahead.
Me in 2022 doing a coding bootcamp having quit my job in the midst of mass tech layoffs and an imminent recession: 🤡
Day 21 of
#100DaysOfCode
: Terribly overwhelmed and anxious about the project I built today not being perfect and not uploading to Github for some reason.
I need to step away for now but not going to lie, my imposter syndrome is very present this week.
Day 43:
Will begin building projects that might span over several days for added complexity.
🔵 Started new project using Contentful in order to get JSON data from their CMS's API to display on a restaurant site. 🍔🍳
🟢 Settled into my Airbnb for this month
#100DaysOfCode
Day 40 of
#100DaysOfCode
:
Today's episode on learning Javascript has been about trying to understand DOM manipulation and events, callbacks and promises.
The takeaway is that I will need many more days to understand DOM manipulation and events, callbacks and promises.
I'll be in Toronto for Canada's first-ever
@EffectvAltruism
conference this weekend with the
@_ideosphere
team. If you're around, come by and say hi! 👋
Day 11:
✧ Followed a
@superhi_
tutorial to code a visual representation of my ADHD mind while trying to focus at work.
✧ Worked exclusively with the terminal and VSCode
✧ Learned and loved using easeInOutCubic for animations. 😍
#100DaysOfCode
Working on my first NFT art collection made with machine learning while in self-isolation after I tested positive for COVID is the most 2021 moment of 2021.
I've put my coding challenge on hold temporarily because my aim is to work for new industries, and an exciting web3 design project landed on my lap out of the blue, so I can't afford to turn that down rn.
Excited to have my first project in the space. Stay tuned. 🔥
PSA: Gorgeous baby devs doing
#100DaysOfCode
, this cheatsheet for VS Code is superb.
Don't sleep on it.
Optimize your workflow.
Become one with the universe.
#CodeNewbie
Day 15: Audited the last 14 days of coding and building one project a day. I need to make sure I don't indulge in the 'handholding honeymoon' via tutorials.
Revisited CSS concepts from scratch so every concept sinks in to start building from a blank screen asap
#100DaysOfCode
Finished
@nayafia
's episode on the DeSci Podcast and can't put down her book Working in Public. 🎧📕 A must-read and listen for all science and open source enthusiasts.
These insights are incredibly relevant as we develop
