The young man from Rockland County who has polio paralysis is from a large activist anti-vaccine family. Often, one would find that an experience like this would lead one to realize they’ve made a grave error, speak up in favor of vaccination, & ensure this doesn’t happen again.

Not here. To realize that this young man cannot walk because of their false belief system must be too painful, because the family is now taking the unique step in insisting that he does not, in fact, have polio. How sad for everyone involved. Disinformation is truly tragic.

He got thinner and thinner and skipped more chemo appointments. He lived alone in a homeless shelter and I treated him to Applebee’s gift cards when I learned that he couldn’t eat the frozen meals at the shelter. (That’s when Applebee’s stepped in and sent him a $500 card).

Polio returned to the US for the first time since 1979. Wastewater in Rockland County and Orange County are positive for poliomyelitis. Only 60% of children in RC are vaccinated for polio, compared to the average 80% of the rest of NY. This is frightening and this post is why.

If Trump were truly “good for the Jews” he’d unconditionally, repeatedly, voluntarily and unambiguously condemn all white nationalist groups, who hate the Jews, have persecuted them in the past, and would do so again the moment they feel emboldened enough.

I’ll tell you who won last night and didn’t even realize it: ultra-Orthodox women. With high birthrates (~8 births/family), these women see higher rates of everything that comes with frequent pregnancies: complications, genetic anomalies, and more. 1/

He was recently hospitalized and when he showed up for chemotherapy yesterday, he weighed 126 pounds and his legs were as thin as my wrists. I asked him if he wanted to proceed with chemo, or let me help him spend his remaining time in comfort.
