Removing your licence plates to avoid LTN cameras is a driving offence. This car was spotted by a resident this morning just after Valley Rd South filter. Pls do report any such incidents to the police so they can investigate.
Lambeth Council has always made clear it doesn't tolerate vandalism. For those who do it (or condone it) also v self-defeating: more Council time & money spent dealing with it, not on other things they might actually want. And elsewhere hasn't changed Council's approach to LTNs.
Many Streatham High Rd businesses open today. Just been to talk to shops, cafes and offices - checking they ok, giving info and thanking them for being open today. (and for providing sustenance & loos to police and others). Do come down and support them.

Picked up my phone to another foul-mouthed rant from a driver who lives well outside Streatham area who sees it as his birthright to drive thru whatever roads he wants to save a few mins, and sod anyone else. I get people's frustrations with certain impacts of LTN, but not that.

I've had lots of emails, calls & social media about Streatham Wells LTN. Two weeks in, here is the update I am responding with, to residents within Wells ward. I also thank my ward colleague Marianna, & other Cllrs in Streatham & W Norwood, for the similar work they are doing.
Behind the black railings on Sunnyhill Road lies Streatham's newest nature space. Council & residents working together to turn it into a resource for local community, schools & of course wildlife. Popped into today's volunteer day. Look forward to helping again at next one.
A Streatham-based Daily Mail journo (Tom Utley) once again uses his column to feign ignorance & spread 'motorist as innocent victims', 'local politicians r money-grubbing Scrooges', culture war stories that do little but feed beast of hate. I suspect he knows what he's doing too.
This may, or may not, accord with your own experiences of past few weeks, but important that these voices & stories are heard. Whatever ur position on LTN itself, this is helpful reminder of how impetus for changes in Wells came from residents themselves.
Very impressed with
@metpoliceuk
efficiency today. Discovered been burgled when woke up this morning. [Thankfully only wallets & car key taken]. But police came within 45mins of my wife reporting online. Forensics team came a few hours later. And already have crime ref no.
A post I did this morning has stirred cesspit of hatred that sadly dwells on this site. Some vile stuff has come my way. Mix of toxic masculinity and intolerance of others or law. Messages daily encouraged by Conservative Party & their allies in media.
But I won't be cowed.
Pleased to see that Lambeth Council has rejected the planning application for a new betting shop on Streatham High Road (97-99 - where Maemes, and previously KFC, was). I strongly objected to it, and so did residents. Details, inc decision note, here:

I did a scoot-around of over half Streatham Wells LTN area - inc some boundary roads - between 5.20pm-6pm today.
A snapshot is just a snapshot. So not saying this is everyone's evening experience. Traffic also heavy where it normally is on High Rd from Gracefield Gardens down.
New cycle storage spaces being installed on Mountearl Gdns near Streatham Hill. Demand on Council Estates & in private blocks is high. Been frustrating & slow process to get any. Glad this has been recognised and Labour administration pledges to significantly step up provision.
We will deliver over 5,000 secure cycle storage spaces in Lambeth, five times more than in the last four years. We will continue our programme to roll out cycle storages across our estates, investing an additional £500,000 to meet growing demand.

On my way back from 24hrs in Brussels. Glad to have taken a moment to seek out the little square named after Jo Cox. Felt like a forgotten outpost of progressive, pro-European Britain - a sign remembering not just her, but so much else we have lost.
Cars have their place. But prioritising cars is direct threat to children's lives & all our health. PM's plans will result in more kids being hurt & killed; more cases of ill-health due to physical inactivity & air pollution; & further disadvantaging those who can't afford a car
We are a nation of drivers.
Most of us use a car every day and, for many, life would be difficult without their car.
But too often, drivers feel under attack.
That changes today with a long-term plan to improve drivers' experience on the road.

A lower traffic scheme in Streatham Wells (albeit not specifics of Council's LTN design) was result of years of campaigning by residents in area to draw attention to -ve impacts of congestion; driver bad behaviour; pollution; speeding; poor pupil, pedestrian & cycling safety.

Sadiq is right that buses - & needs of passengers - are prioritised more. Some of the issues with A23 bus delays pre-date LTN, but some are newer. Look forward to a fleet & pragmatic approach from TfL and Council to improve High Rd & Streatham Wells LTN.
As a ward councillor within Streatham Wells Low Traffic Neighbourhood area, here is my initial statement in response to decision to suspend LTN.
Already inundated with msgs of relief at action and anger at suspension too - both valid; both have truths; both need 2b recognised.
Since well b4 Xmas, I & other Streatham Cllrs hv raised concerns over bus delays within Streatham area. LTN neither cause of volume of cars, nor sole cause of bus disruption. But improvements essential & soon. Discussions ongoing btwn Council & TfL: rightly being taken seriously.
Great to welcome Cabinet member to Streatham Wells earlier this wk - inc to Valley Rd Surgery & SYCT centre on Wellfield Rd. On LTN, Cllr Masters & I raised issues of better signage, quicker response to vandalism, boundary road pinch points & roadworks + medical & SEN exemptions.

Yes, we cld have done more - always can. And Cllr Masters is gr8 at reminding officers to keep on upping engagement.
My longstanding position is for Lambeth Council to consider a different approach to dealing with emergency works on LTN boundary roads. The disruption in Streatham this week reconfirms that change is needed. I've suggested to Council a range of practical improvements & options.

On my way back from Councillor Surgery, I scooted alongside some LTN boundary roads as well as within LTN. Streatham High Rd (Hill to Odeon) seemed moving & fairly normal busyness for a Sat lunchtime - with al fresco brunches still continuing. LCR slower, prob due to roadworks.
Touched by kindness of passers-by and residents of Leigham Court Road just now, helping a motorcyclist after a road accident. Thanks to everyone, inc woman who gave my toddler an apple, and others who stopped to check if anything they could do.

I'm appreciative of all feedback residents have already sent on ways Streatham Wells LTN filter signage & markings could be improved. As well as passing these up to Council, I was out this eve inspecting some myself. Some good; some less so. Plenty for Council to consider & do.
I'm a Labour cllr in Lambeth who is Jewish & a longstanding Lab Friends of Palestine & ME activist. This summer I experienced antisemitism online directed at me, coming from the (far) left. Angry at Jewish Voice from Labour delegation here trying to deny problem & weaken action.
