Why can't the Fed fix inflation? Quick history lesson. Inflation hit a whopping 14.8% in March 1980. Paul Volker was Chair of the Fed and hiked rates all the way from 11.2% in 1979 -> 20% in June 1981. This caused a recession and people were PISSED. So much so that... 1/11

@leadlagreport Agreed but Fed would need to raise rates to higher than current inflation numbers to get out in front. Say 10%? But then US couldn’t service the debt since it’s financed with T Bills. Bottom line - US economy isn’t strong enough to withstand the fix for inflation
