That large smoke plume you’re seeing is from the Spring Creek Fire near Parachute, Colorado on the western slope.
Crews are battling this wildfire, both on the ground and using aircraft.
We just wanted to let everybody know that it is not on the Front Range.
If you see a smoke plume to the west, there is a wildland fire southwest of Boulder. Crews are currently en route to the scene.
At this point, no structures appear to be threatened.
Please avoid the area to allow firefighters to get to work.

The winds have arrived as predicted. This video was shot just north of Niwot Road along N 63rd and illustrates why there is a Red Flag Warning for eastern Boulder County and a burn ban for the county.
There was a small grass fire along Niwot Rd earlier. Crews got it out quickly
Crews worked overnight on the Lakeshore Fire to keep the spread to a minimum. We expect this should be the final update unless we see a significant weather shift.

We are currently monitoring the wildland fire in the mountains west of Boulder. It is currently not in our district but we will keep residents informed as the situation develops.

A call came in just before 9:30 this morning, about a plane down just north of Erie. When crews got to the scene, they found a small single engine Cessna in a ditch just east of Weld County Road 3. The pilot was able to get out of the aircraft and did not sustain any injuries.
The forecast continues to change, and we wouldn’t call it “improving” at least from a safety standpoint.
Do not travel during the storm unless absolutely necessary.
This looks earlier now. High res/global models increasingly aligned on a quicker flip to snow, perhaps before midnight.

Serious crash alert. I-25 northbound just passed exit 243 is closed. Due to a very serious crash. Two tractor-trailers three cars with multiple people being taken to the hospital.
We are looking at an elevated fire danger for Sunday afternoon and evening. Use extreme caution if you need to do anything outdoors that may produce a spark. The Boulder County Sheriff's Office has issued a No Open Burning order for the western part of Boulder County.
Just after 8:20PM a call came in to Dispatch about a fire near Meyers Gulch Trailhead north of Gross Reservoir. That call came from a Boulder County Sheriff's Deputy who happened to be in the area. More details in the graphics.
Crews are on the scene of an active car fire which causing delays on Highway 36 in the Denver bound lanes just west of McCaslin. Louisville Fire, BCSO, and Colorado State Patrol are also on scene assisting with the incident.
It was a scary moment for our crews this morning on a call in Erie. Report came in as a structure fire with smoke in the home. Turned out to be a hybrid on fire, which lead to a small explosion from the battery. Full details are in the infographic.
Our crews are on the scene of a house fire on Links Court in Erie right now. The response was quick with MVFR’s Engine 2208 first on scene. Also responding: MVFR’s Engine 2207, Ladder 2216, Battalion Chief 2260, Medic 2226, Special thanks to assistance from Lafayette Fire.
Multiple units from Mountain View Fire Rescue and Frederick Firestone Fire Rescue are on the scene of a grass fire near the intersection of County Road 20.5 and County Road 7.

Mountain View Fire Rescue is currently fighting a large barn fire near Mead, north of Highway 66 and the smoke can be seen for miles. Please avoid Weld County Road 32. We have assistance from Platteville Gilchrest FPD along with a tender from Frederick Firestone Fire Rescue.
Mountain View has 3 Type 1 engines, 2 Type 6 engines, a water tender and several chief staff assigned to the fire. Our station 9 in Eldorado Springs is in the evacuation area and the crews normally assigned are working the fire. We continue to respond to call in our district.
Mountain View Fire Rescue units are assisting with a shots fired call on Boulder bound Highway 36 in the area of McCaslin Boulevard. Please avoid the area and find an alternate route.

& Boulder Emergency Services just after 7AM on Fox Ridge RD to assist an elderly horse that got stuck in a creek. MVFR's Technical Rescue Team & BES got the horse up the 12 foot embankment to safety. The horse walked to his stall & is resting.
We are happy to share that the Lakeshore Fire near Gross Reservoir is now fully 100% contained. Residents may see occasional light smoke coming from the interior areas of the fire, most likely stumps. We will have both MVFR and US Forest Service crews monitoring the incident site

An osprey got tangled in a steel mesh covering near HWY 66 & WCR 7.
Engineer Rademacher climbed a 24' ladder, was able to free the bird, carry it down, & the Park Ranger removed material around the legs and feet.
One of our firefighters started a fundraiser for the Ben Fournier's family.
Ben began as a volunteer firefighter with Mountain View Fire Rescue in 2000 then became career firefighter in 2006. He most recently worked at our Station 9 in Eldorado Springs.
One of our 14 new recruits has already completed an academy, so today at Station 1 near Longmont Aryn Marsh was pinned with her Firefighter badge by A Shift Battalion Chief Sean Flagg.

If you see what looks like smoke near Eldorado Canyon and the State Park, it is likely from a film crew that is shooting on location in the area. Our crews at Station 9 are aware and in contact with the producers on set.
Crews from Mountain View Fire Rescue and Frederick Firestone Fire Rescue worked together to put out a prescribed burn that got out of control. All told, about 3 acres burned and crews were able to stop the fire before it endangered an eagles nest in a tree.
Crews are training on ice rescue this week. Remember these safety tips:
1. Remind children: never go out on the ice.
2. Keep pets on a leash near ice.
3. If you see a person or animal fall, call 911 and reach & throw: don't go!
We have a brief update regarding the odor investigation in the Eagle Meadow Estates neighborhood in Dacono. We are still on scene and will probably be here for quite a while.
Our crews are on the scene of a large hay bale fire along Weld County Road 28 just east of Interstate 25. Motorists in the area between Highway 66 and Colorado 119 will see a large amount of smoke.

Around 10:00 am Mountain View FD responded to reports of a plane crash in the area of 95th and Niwot Road. On arrival responders determined 2 planes had crashed and confirmed 3 fatalities. The public is asked to avoid the area. Additional updates will be posted when available.
Highway 287 is completely shut down just north of Yellowstone between Longmont and Berthoud. There is a major crash and cruise will be on scene for an extended period today. Please find an alternate route and avoid the area.

MVFR crews responded to El Dorado State Park to assist with a rescue.
A climber fell while ascending Long John route off of the West Ridge. He had climbed about 25’ up when a hold broke free.
Working with Rocky Mtn Rescue, we got him down & transported to the hospital.
Mountain View Fire Rescue is assisting Hygiene Fire and Lyons Fire on a wildland fire in the Rabbit Mountain Open Space north of Highway 66. Units we have currently on scene helping include Engine 2204 & Tender 2244.

Our Honor Guard was proud to present the flags for our National Anthem at the Colorado Avalanche game tonight. It was also first responders tribute night.
Scary moments overnight on I-25 just north of Hwy 66 when a car hit a large elk. The driver had minor injuries & declined transport to the hospital. A 2nd car came upon the scene & while avoiding the elk lying, hit a guardrail and rolled. Everyone in the 2nd car was okay.
Mountain View Fire Rescue responded alongside Lafayette Fire Rescue to a fatal crash at the intersection of US 287 and Isabel Road that happened at 6:48pm.
MVFR crews are back at the Sugar Mill. Due to unstable and hazardous conditions inside the structure, our firefighters cannot enter the building to extinguish the flames. The fire is going to continue to burn until the materials inside are gone.

Crews from districts across Boulder County worked this afternoon to put out a 2 acre grass fire just west of 95th Street near Lafayette.
Responding agencies included Lafayette Fire, Louisville Fire Boulder Rural Fire Rescue, and multiple apparatus from Mountain View Fire Rescue
At 9:11am, our stations will pull their fire apparatus out & will activate their emergency lights while observing a minute of silence in tribute as we remember and honor the fallen.

A call came in about 7am, a balloon crashed in Erie. Crews got to Weld Co Rd 5 & Colliers Pkwy and found a gust of wind had pulled a balloon free of its crew members' grasp, & a crew member fell from about 10' sustaining minor injuries. A MVFR medic unit took her to the hospital

We are getting some reports of flooding in our area. This photo is of Coal Creek in Erie at Cheeseman Street, where the creek is starting to overtop the bridge.
Use extreme caution if you see water over a roadway. There is good reason we use the phrase: Turn Around Don't Drown.
A call came in at 11:11 on Saturday night & our crews from Station 1 and Station 3 responded to a vehicle on fire next to a home on County Line Rd. Crews worked quickly & got the fire out in less than 10 minutes & prevented damage to the home. Our Fire Marshal is investigating.
Alert! This storm is dropping significant size damaging hail along the I 25 corridor from Erie Parkway northbound to at least Colorado Highway 119, exit 240.
Earlier this week we had the chance to meet 23 year old Andrii, a Ukrainian soldier who lost his leg after a Russian ambush of his unit.
He was in the Denver area recuperating & getting fitted with a new prosthetic leg which sports the flag & crest of Ukraine.

Our crew at the Pine Gulch fire assisted with a large burn out to control the fire yesterday. The last update shows containment at 19% and the total acreage burned at 126,613 acres.
