I'm not an idiot I just play one on Twitter. Opinions are my own and probably sarcastic. Sprint cars are the coolest thing in the world, that's not sarcastic
Kyle Larson won't run the Chili Bowl because it doesn't pay enough meanwhile Kyle Busch is running Tulsa Shootout. It's nice to see a Nascar champion who supports grass roots racing.
I can't believe how many people including some of my friends believe Kyle Larson is some NASCAR guy beating up on sub-par competition. You can't even explain to them how incredibly hard it is to win these races.
Random thought.
My son saw Monster Jam trucks at the store. We bought some. He looked up Monster Jam on YouTube. Now we are taking him to a Monster Jam show.
How cool would it be if they still sold sprint cars in the store?
Bill Rose and Robert Bell are going to run the entire WoO and USAC schedule respectively. Don't knock the results. They're living a lot of guys' dream.
@FloRacing
needs a race day show like college game day. Each Saturday they could pick a race on their network to attend and highlight the event and other events. I'm just an idea guy.
Final comment about last night. It's sad when
@Gibvoice
has to ask multiple times for people to not take down the
@WorldofOutlaws
and
@NosEnergyDrink
banners. Race fans, let's stop this. It's not cool and it's getting old.
It took 77 races for someone to win 18 410 races in 2019. That was the most wins by any driver. It has taken Kyle Larson 38 races to win 18 410 races this year. 😳
@rick_eshelman
messaged me one night in reference to a post I made about
@WoOLateModels
in Michigan. He said he would love to race in his home state.
I don't know how we make it happen but let's have the Rick Eshelman Memorial in Michigan.
Let's not act like MAVTV somehow gives dirt racing a broadened audience and ignore the fact that...
A) The general public hardly has access to mavtv.
B) No one is watching a 4+ hour broadcast with multiple breaks if they aren't completely vested.
I wish more corporate sponsors realized how awesome their brand can look on open wheel cars. Not to mention how loyal us fans are about supporting those who support racing.
Personal opinion. If you're a 360 series, you shouldn't schedule against the 360 Nationals. If you're a 410 series, you shouldn't schedule against the 410 Nationals. It doesn't matter if you don't think your teams will go, give them the chance.
Pennzoil 22, Quaker State and Valvoline 11, Beef Packers 83, Channellock 1, Vivarin 10, etc... Am I just sappy with nostalgia or were sprint cars a lot more iconic back in the day?
Brag moment.
I haven't had alcohol in about 2 months. Today was my first time in a social setting where people were drinking and I did not.
I don't know if I'm going to completely give up drinking but with my family's history I'm trying to learn to enjoy life without it.
I am not a writer and I typed this up quickly on a Google Doc. But these are some burning thoughts I have about why sprint car racing in PA is just different. And I really hope I get to experience it soon.
PS: Even if this is terrible and no one reads it, I wanted to share.
My Dad joined the work force in high school. 3rd shift in a factory while attending school. He has worked for nearly 40 years including the past 27 as a custodian in at our hometown school. Today, was his last day. He is retired and I couldn't be more happy for him!
Masks vs No Masks. It's like sprints vs late models. No matter which side you're on you're probably not going to change anyone's mind on the other side. That's why it's a fight I don't fight. 😂
Not hating on the WoO whatsoever but the fact that the Cappy and Front Row Challenge don't count towards their 4 exclusivity races but the Million did makes absolutely no sense to me.
Let's make this clear, I think...
1. Kyle Larson is the greatest driver on the planet.
2. Dirt > Pavement
3. Dirt has professional drivers who don't get respect they deserve.
4. Nascar is pretty much terrible.
5. Sarcasm is hard to read on Twitter. (Not this tweet)
People behind me have never been to a dirt track. They just commented you have to be a diehard to be in for a long night like this.
Probably will never return.
If you wondered why starting heats at 9 and a 5-6 hour program is too long.
Today reaffirms that you never know who is struggling. Mental health matters.
Rest in peace, Rick Eshelman. Thoughts and prayers to his friends, family and the racing community.
World of Outlaws officials this morning:
Did you see that race last night?
Yes, it was awesome.
Right. Let's remove it from the schedule in 2024. Which half miles could we add again?
A 6th grader at my school was surprised that I was a race fan. She said, "you don't meet many race fans these days and if you do they usually like asphalt, and we aren't even going to go there."
Her parents are raising her right.
I don't know if there was a more polarizing figure in dirt track racing than Scott Bloomquist. Wish I would have gotten to watch him race more especially in his prime. RIP Legend
This Rick Eshelman situation is so unnerving. Keep sharing any posts you see. Hopefully it will lead to something positive. Thoughts are with him and his family and friends!
Just a quick reminder that racers are probably going to race wherever makes the most financial sense for them regardless if it fits your agenda or not.
One of my students asked me if I was watching the National championship tonight? I told him no I'm watching the Chili Bowl. He asked who's playing in that one?
What a memorable night. One of the biggest races ever at my home track. The dice draw. Most importantly hanging out with some of my closest friends and family. I've been to hundreds of races but I'll never forget this one.
A guy I knew from college died this weekend from injuries sustained in a house fire. He went into a burning house to save his 4 year old daughter. She was relatively unharmed.
So heartbreaking but such a powerful display of a father's love. RIP Jeremy.
If Kasey Kahne shows up to a Sheldon Haudenschild promoted race with a series ran by Kyle Larson and Brad Sweet, are we still being good neighbors or are we trying to make a point to the HOA?
