This whole “let’s all dunk on Bill Gates” thing is infuriating. Yep, dude is mega rich. But he’s also one if the greatest philanthropists the world has ever seen.
Dollar for dollar I’d wager his philanthropic investments are dramatically more efficient in their return vs. gov.
Say Bill Gates was actually taxed $100 billion.
We could end homelessness and provide safe drinking water to everyone in this country.
Bill would still be a multibillionaire.
Our message: the billionaire class cannot have it all when so many have so little.
I’m 100% confident I’ll never work in a traditional office environment ever again. Kind of a wild thing to really consider when I thought on it a bit more…
Anyone else feel that way?
Met an amazing lady 10 years ago at SXSW. Life took lots of turns, but we reconnected last year, and after tons of texts, calls, trips to Texas and back, now we’re here in PA, together. Today I asked her and our kiddos if we could be a family and thankfully they said yes. ❤️
Exciting day here at
@xmtp_
as we announce our $20M Series A led by
@a16z
with participation from a few other incredible funds and strategic angels.
We're so fortunate to have such a wonderful group of backers, through both our seed and now our A.
Home desk update. Got mounts for my old dynamic microphone and Sony camera, now connected to computer for better audio/video. Snagged an

1) 👉🏼 Some personal news 👈🏼
After a few years on the sidelines I’m excited to be jumping back into the saddle and start a new company with my long-time friend and colleague

We’re building something new in the web3/crypto space: (

What are the motivations behind picking technologies to build into this amendment?
It’s like Congress coming out and saying you can code with Java + Python but leaving all other languages out.
Helping to introduce Web 2.0 engineers to Web3 when recruiting…and then seeing the aha moments start to click in real time…is like straight lightning injected into my bloodstream. ⚡️💉🩸
Go west, fellow traveler, the frontier is calling!
Finally a homeowner 🏡
Feeling so fortunate and thankful to get a place where my little dude and I can put down some roots and make memories together. 😊
Welcome to the world, Nash Weston Galligan! Words just can’t begin describe what it felt like to meet our little dude.

Here’s a nice little coffee shop ☕️ that opened up last year, in a building that was vacant my entire childhood. Love seeing this.

@harper
The switch was absolutely dubious, and dangerous in this time.
Another take here though may be that there's a lag in reporting in general. A number of sources indicated that switching to the HHS reporting service was non-trivial and may take some time.
Could be both too 😓

Dang this has been an awesome week. Can't be understated how much fun it is to be working in crypto rn. Seriously feels like when I got started building back in 2006, Web 2.0 days…more electric even. 🔥
web3 isn’t dead.
Boom or bust, many of us are still building towards a web where users own & control their identity & data.
Beyond buzzwords that’s what we are here for.
Not for the gains or the hype.
We’re here to build a better web, and won’t give up till it’s here.
NFTs are so fascinating from a liquidity perspective.
“Buy low, sell high” works with tokens because you can always buy back in.
But what if you get attached to specific jpgs? Sell them at the top? Great. But doubtful you’ll be able to buy the same one back at the bottom.
Few.
@AdamDraper
Adam, I really appreciate your passion for startups,but kind of stance perpetuates a problematic mindset.
A few times before I’ve done this and when my startup failed went through a depressive and anxious bout of time. I was lucky to have support through that, some are not.
Been testing

as as replacement for Jira with our team.
This ⚡️ thing ⚡️ is ⚡️ so ⚡️ fast ⚡️
I can create a ticket, set its status, priority, and assignee before Jira's compose screen loads completely.
To think that overnight government (by way of a new president) could change its ways of horrifically inefficient spending is comedic at best.
The tax code is broken and favors the rich far too much. But we should look to those like Bill Gates and collaborate vs. vilify.

For a long time I’ve hoped someone would make a Personal CRM tool that worked really well, but it never came to pass.
Never expected something that looked like a note taking tool at first would be what did it for me. The deeper I go w/
@RoamResearch
the more interesting it gets.
Someone just asked me for my address and I sent them my ETH address but they actually needed my physical address. My brain is already living in the metaverse lol.
🤯 Oh…my.
I thought convincing deep fakes (even just voice) were still a solid ways off.
I’m wrong. Dead wrong. No way I would have known these were fake if I wasn’t already told so.
The world is about to get *a lot* more complicated.

2. Spend 2-3 weeks going down the rabbit hole
3. Reach a stable state

I'm really impressed with now well text entry works with the Apple Pencil on iOS 14. Text selection and deletion is also slick.
Here’s a video showing how it works, sped up 2x.
The craft from this era of OS X apps (2006-2012) was the pinnacle. It was all about delight and high design. Just fantastic.
Delicious Library was another that comes to mind.
What else?
Today a developer building with

Here's a demo showing the experience working seamlessly across sites, environments, wallets, & platforms. ✉️🚀
Wore this today. My son said “daddy, it’s your monkey!” Got props from a dude at the LEGO store and a guy working at Shake Shack. The people in the furniture stores gave me smug looks…they’re ngmi.
Went for a walk before hunkering down in the house to watch the coverage tonight. Beautiful evening for it.

take on a whole new kind of usefulness when combined w/ messaging.
Chatting with hi.xmtp.eth instead of hixmtp.eth means I can visually verify authenticity of the sender, in particular with well-known project or company names.
Or read the profile myself.
Merry Christmas! 🎄🎁 🎅🏻
Nash man got a workbench and started right in on it! Brought this dad so much joy seeing him enjoy it.
I’d modeled it after a

Hard to believe it’s been 10 years since

Still nothing quite like it, and I miss it all the time.

Also me: Refreshing old email clients in anticipation of an invite feels like some kind of cruel joke
You know that thing where they say if you do what you love you’ll never work another day in your life?
I love to have fun, learn every day, and work on bleeding edge kind of stuff.
And I feel fortunate as heck that what I’m working on each and every day in crypto delivers that.
Yesterday people gave
@APompliano
shit for not enabling buying of pizzas with BTC.
Today 20%+ of those funds to charity would have evaporated.
Oh and buying pizza with BTC would have triggered capital gains.
As with the original BTC pizza, maybe spending BTC isn’t a good idea?
Got

I've been using

Never have been one to write things down much, but have challenged myself to change that. This thing is my own personal Wikipedia now.
Twitter's Search API costs $0.30/query and at the lowest tier ($149/mo) the max call frequency is once per 90 mins. 💸
At the highest tier ($2,499/mo) the call frequency is just once per 4 mins. 🐢
If the plan was to kill the paid API too, I'd say this is how you'd do it. 😱

Waiting a day to see how they “develop” is really something fun. Even the out of focus or less-than-perfect shots bring a lot of character.

Today I unsubscribed from all of my political podcasts & all but one news pod. Subscribed to

Time to slow down…
1) The last decade was all about the social graph: the representation of relationships within a social network.
The next decade of the Internet will be all about the “value graph”: a representation of all value within a network (such as Ethereum)
Do Not Reply email addresses are anti-customer.
