3. It was Pikachu who destroyed the missiles, causing the explosion, but technically Team Rocket's Porygon fired those missiles. 4. It is technically Takayuki Shimura's fault as he was the art director and thought a full screen strobe effect was a good idea.

Having seen the episode myself, it would have been very extremely easy to both tone down the strobe and remove most of it completely. But the damage was done. Once news got out about the effects the episode had, Pokémon locked the episode away, never to be seen again.

Yea, GS are a mess. They have bad Pokémon and item locations. Horrid level curve. Opponents with awful teams and movepools. And yet, Gold and Silver are incredibly comfy to play. The atmosphere of these games is staggering. They're just nice games to play.
