This crap about the No 10 staff needing a party cos they’d been working quite hard on COVID is really grinding my gears. The staff of the NHS were utterly traumatised, many dying of the infection that they’d contracted whilst caring for patients. They weren’t having parties.
I hope none of my NHS colleagues were hoping to go to a
@BenefitUK
brow bar now restrictions have eased, cos they’re refusing to take clients who work for the NHS in case they’ve been working with patients with Covid 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️ There is such a thing as PPE

@AnnaKateBarton
I think I’m even more enraged by this update than I was the original post. “The most inappropriate dress they had ever seen”?!! Wtf
Can’t believe they’re trying to take away the biggest joy of being a consultant, which is when the patient’s story changes from when they saw the admitting team and is suddenly a total classic for a completely different diagnosis
It’s been a tiring week. Day off today so went for a nap after the kids had gone to school. To be woken up by a weight on me. Opened my eyes to a cat looking at me.
We don’t own a cat.
I’m not sure we really believed this day would ever come. The legend that is Mark Francis is finally hanging up his stethoscope. What a privilege it has been to work alongside him. All the hype is true. Nobody has earned their retirement more.
@njohncamm
@DGlaucomflecken
You literally are undermining him. He had a well-documented unheralded cardiac arrest and he and his wife (who carried out CPR) are doing incredibly important work in educating the public and our profession about the patient and cared experience.
Child 1 starts Big School tomorrow and has devoted today to preparations. Got up at 6:30 cos she and her mates did a practice walk AT THE USUAL SCHOOL TIME and has repacked her bag about 3 times. Water bottle in the fridge with a sprig of mint in it 😂😂😂😂😂
As is my husband, and my teenage daughter, who was so relieved that she would be able to get a second vaccination. They know they are protecting me as well as themselves - and other people
@TheCraneReport
I am a UK consultant cardiologist. I have had all the Covid vaccines I could and will continue to get them. He is out of step with the medical profession and with evidence. And, increasingly, with reality.
I know I join in with the memes re Bozo and his antics, but I’m actually crying reading these heartrending tweets from people who lost loved ones who died alone while these amoral, heartless gits partied it up. It is unforgivable. Totally unforgivable.

@geordie_medic
I had two work mugs I loved v much and guarded well. They disappeared. About a year later I was doing the ward round in CCU and found two consecutive patients sitting drinking out of my mugs
I cannot imagine how my neonatology consultant colleagues in Chester must be feeling. They and the families were let down in the most horrific, gaslighting way.

Wow.
A 54-year-old woman presented with palpitations that were relieved when she passed gas or had a bowel movement. Computed tomography revealed the presence of the transverse colon within the pericardial cavity
35.7% of female cardiologists experienced unwanted sexual comments, attention or advances from a superior or colleague, compared with 6.1% of male cardiologists.
@AbbieTutt
Not mine but a girl in my class at medical school spent some minutes in her surgical OSCE describing the sebaceous cyst she saw on a patient’s abdomen only to discover that it was a stray Rice Krispie from his breakfast
My assistant head said I shouldn’t do medicine because I wouldn’t be able to do so many specialties because I am a women.
Now a consultant in one of the most heavily male dominated specialties.
I want to hear some underdog stories. Tell me about your 12th grade advisor who said you wouldn’t get into college, your premed advisor who said you wouldn’t get into med school, etc. tell me all the ways you’ve turned their doubt into fuel 💪
Fife cardiology is v sad to be waving goodbye to
@TariqRamtoola
our cardiology reg of the last 6 months. The Edinburgh crew had better look after him properly! Here he is with the legend that is Mark Francis
VERY exciting card news! My lovely, quirky, arty 12 year old was asked to recreate a famous painting for a school project. Diane Benn, a portrait artist friend was so taken by the photo that she has painted this beautiful portrait, Little Frida. 1/
@rosieICM
It’s 0 years since a male attendee at a CPD event said that having only one male on faculty (for the one bit of cardiology that’s not massively male dominated) meant that it was very intimidating to attend as a male 😶
<laughs in most-of-career-spent-as-only-woman-in-department>
When you see somebody back for a follow up appointment after what you think was a perfectly routine first appointment and they appear with these. Easy to forget that what is routine for us is anything but for patients
I have unlocked a parenting achievement level! Child 1 asked where I was, and when I said I was in the toilet, SHE DIDN’T COME IN!! Mind blown.
(It’s only taken 12 years)
Mentioned to my 9 yr old that her grandad’s surgeon had phoned me after doing his operation last night. She asked what her name was. Its actually a he, but I love that she continues to assume that girls can do anything. Because we can
I’ve been qualified for 24 years and I’ve never had alerts sent to me about measles cases until the last few weeks.
Vaccines work, people.
Andrew Wakefield, you utter charlatan. This is on you.
I’m having a bit of an emotional response to things kicking off with Omicron and changes happening at work. I went off sick a month before the first lockdown and struggled badly with guilt over what my colleagues were dealing with, and also an off jealousy 1/
For anyone alarmed by the loud screaming that was undoubtedly audible throughout northwest Edinburgh, that was me on a sledge for the first time in X0 years. It was less sledging and more luge, to be honest
I had such a lovely response to my daughter’s painting and some people asked if they could buy packs of printed cards. My daughter and I thought this might be a nice way to raise a little money for Edinburgh North West Food Bank
@TrussellTrust
I want to know what the gender split was on the working group that came up with this paternalistic, misogynistic, heteronormative nonsense
Women of childbearing age should be 'prevented' from drinking alcohol - WHO
So many of these stories. When I was a medical student, a cardiology senior registrar threw a patient’s blanket at me & said “Fold that. That’s all you’ll be doing as a woman in medicine”. What a prick.
Age 16, on work experience, a male GP gave me a talk ab how at some point I’d want a family and how training women just to have them leave med to have children was a waste of resources.
Fortunately that didn’t put me off, but only w hindsight do I realise how that wasn’t okay..
Unfortunately discrimination against women appears to be alive and well at

NHS failing- 2x ppci overnight. This pt phoned ambulance at 10 pm. Phoned further 21x with worsening CP. at 6am wife chose to drive him in- VF - ivus guided PPCI. 2nd pt- waited 4 hrs for ambulance, wife drove him in. This is not how to run a service
@DrAsifQasim
@ShrillaB
This is a class issue. That it happened is disgusting. That Swinney/Sturgeon are failing to take any responsibility is also disgusting.
