This is a beautiful, important piece from
@OwenJones84
, about how we deal, or struggle to deal, with death. We are nowadays more remote from death, which compounds our paucity of language.
Can we be clear: a woman like Maura, who loves sex, and loves to talk about sex, is not there to be slut-shamed. It's time we celebrated people comfortable with their own desires.
#loveisland
I feel v uncomfortable watching Faye berating Teddy repeatedly. Some might consider it 'great TV' but her behaviour needs to be challenged. Hat tip to Teddy for keeping his cool. Maybe he could win on his own...?
#LoveIsland
Probably an unfashionable thing to say, but for all the horrendous political mis-steps, and the opportunities for political point-scoring, Liz Truss is a person dealing with untold stress. Let's be kind and thoughtful in our engagement.
For
@trussliz
not to turn up for an urgent question underlines that even she knows she has no authority left. She now has one major opponent as chancellor. Another as her stand in for the statement she should be giving. Every second she stays she does more damage to the country
It was often hilarious, sometimes shocking, but always an honour to review

2nd Jan will see the last episode of ‘The Papers’ on the BBC News Channel – the front pages, paper reviews and insight from newspaper journalists and editors will continue to be available across BBC News programming. More info:

Exciting to hear an MP talking about harnessing talent, fighting injustice, being internationalist - and planting 1000s more trees. Why would you not vote for

If ever there was a case for not judging someone as you never know what they are going through, this is it.
A cancer diagnosis up-ends your world for a time, as your vision for your life changes. Stability is essential.

My favourite is still the company who wanted me to speak about workplace wellbeing in front of 400 paying delegates, but of course there was no budget for me. I declined, saying my workplace wellbeing included being paid.
@Joannechocolat
@guywalters
I declined last year to speak for an hour in front of 400 paying delegates, for no fee. The subject? 'Workplace wellbeing'. Oh, the irony.
This week I went to the funeral of a man, described accurately as someone entirely without malice. I know of no-one else deserving of such an accolade. What an inspiration.
If you watch one thing this week, make it

about the trauma of being cyberbullied and how

"I just kept saying, 'I just want to die. I just want to die.'"
Jesy Nelson: ‘Odd One Out’ is coming to iplayer and BBC One at 9pm on September 12th.

Women:
- hold their house keys 'at the ready'
- make a call so their walk alone is audible to someone
- text to say 'I'm home'.
It is crude ignorance, to blame women outside at night for what happens to them.

The irony is that the media have applauded Harry's involvement in encouraging people to talk about their mental health (especially at work) but the minute he does that, while at work (on a royal tour), he's slated. Appalling double standards.
To all those saying rather snootily, 'Nah, not interested in

Ask a grown-up whether they read Whinnie The Pooh as a child... probably not - they had it read TO them. But do they know whole sections off by heart? Do they love it? Did it change their world? Most definitely.
Pleased to hear government to increase funding for

Shockingly sad. We can never truly know what someone else is grappling with and, frankly, it costs nothing to be kind. If you're ever trolled, mute them. Or send this card. Fight with kindness.

Good plan - this image can go far and wide. Plus it can also be Photoshopped, manipulated, memed, distorted... It's out of the sender's control in more ways than one...

This from

is actually scary. No, parents are often squeamish talking about sex and relationships with their children, so the school curriculum needs to inform children about the real world they live in. Teachers need our support in this.
#lgbtq
"Parents know best for their children."
When asked about protests over LGBT classes, Tory leadership candidate Esther McVey told
#Sunrise
parents should have "final say on what they want their children to know".
Teachers are in tears as the row worsens:
Liz Truss's body language is concerning. Stiff, inflexible posture. Wrinkled brow. 'Boxed in' gesture with hands. Makes a viewer anxious, which is not exactly reassuring.
@ShelaghFogarty
Am not convinced people are stressed about Christmas. Last year showed us not only that we might (whisper it) prefer 'Xmas-lite', it also gave us a sense of perspective. A shortage of mince pies on supermarket shelves is NOT THE END OF THE WORLD.
@theJeremyVine
The amount of sex was perfect - and essential. It showed how sex is an exquisite form of communication, particularly in a couple who often (like most of us) struggled to communicate their vulnerabilities or depth of feeling for each other. Beautiful.
Looking forward to watching this on

on Thurs, following Prince William's

I love your father for this. I remember being given a penny to buy a sweet and my mother insisting on calling it 'new money'. The shopkeeper gestured at me and said, for her generation this is all they will ever know; get used to it.
