You have asked us a lot about the name of Morgan’s calf! The young orca will be called Ula, a name of Celtic origin which means “Jewel of the Sea”. Morgan and Ula have a lot of affection towards each other and are enjoying being together in the installations of Orca Ocean.

Morgan's calf continues to grow healthy and strong. Her weight today is 192.5 kg. She is being fed a specially formulated marine mammal milk mixed with Morgan's own milk. Our expert orca team takes care of the young calf 24 hours a day and they are very happy with her progress.

Ula keeps learning! Her wellness is our absolute priority and she has already developed medical behaviour that will allow her to undergo periodic checks-up that contribute to keeping her health in optimal conditions. She is now learning to get on the scale and eat small fish!

Beautiful bond developed between Morgan’s calf and her trainers! All our efforts are to provide her with everything she needs and thus guarantee her most optimal welfare. She continues to feed on a mixture of her mother’s milk and formula that helps her grow healthy and strong.

💡 Did you know that...? Jaguars belong to the genus Panthera, so people often refer to them in both ways. Naya, our female jaguar, has an excess of dark pigmentation (a phenomenon called melanism), so her fur looks black, although she has the characteristic spots of the species

We are happy to share with you great news: the Committee on Petitions of the European Parliament has closed, definitively, the petition initiated by the Free Morgan Foundation, with which they tried to prove that the CITES permit of the orca Morgan was being used incorrectly.

❌ Myth: Whales and dolphins will be able to dive deeper in a sanctuary than in any known pool ☑️ Reality: Diving behaviour in cetaceans is not driven by the available depth in a facility. Cetaceans dive mainly to feed on their preys, when these preys are located deeper.

Have you ever seen a turtle eat a jellyfish? Loggerhead turtles or Caretta caretta, like Federica, have a very diverse diet as they are omnivorous, and their meals include jellyfish, which provide hydration and various nutrients such as fatty acids.

Did you know that armadillos, although they look more like reptiles, are actually mammals? 🧐 With this environmental enrichment, a couple of armadillos had to capture worms, which encourages them to develop the natural behavior of foraging, typical for this species.
