Instead of mostly male kids with lifelong, childhood-onset dysphoria and without other serious mental health issues, Finland and Sweden saw an influx of teen girls with longterm psychiatric issues but adolescent onset gender dysphoria, which had rarely been seen until then.

Just because some people are happy with a treatment doesn’t mean it’s not part of a medical scandal. Many people (or their families) were happy with their lobotomies—but the treatment was so flawed that there was no way to tell who would benefit or be permanently harmed.

Anytime a country or US state has done a non-partisan evidence review, they've come to the same conclusion: treatments cannot be deemed medically necessary because evidence is so poor quality & we don't have patient follow-up; detransitioners generally don't go back to clinics.
