Anytime a country or US state has done a non-partisan evidence review, they've come to the same conclusion: treatments cannot be deemed medically necessary because evidence is so poor quality & we don't have patient follow-up; detransitioners generally don't go back to clinics.

Who would’ve thought these states would be pulling for women and girls’ sports? Who would have thought the orgs once opposed to the ERA are pulling for Title IX? The states you don’t want your daughters to get pregnant in are the ones you want them to play sports in.

I remember when Tracy Chapman burst on the music scene and how beloved she was by all different kinds of kids in my school. We talked about the quality of her voice, but not about her social categories, or her “unlikely” success. It didn’t seem weird to us (maybe because we loved

As Luke Combs's hit cover of Tracy Chapman's "Fast Car" dominates the country charts, it’s bringing up some complicated emotions in fans & singers who know that Chapman, as a queer Black woman, would have an almost zero chance at that achievement herself:

Any journalist who signed the nytletter: I invite you to talk with me about what the research of treating kids with gender dysphoria really says, the unsettled science, the untold stories. DM me. Let’s talk. I’ll share what I’ve learned, and offer you insight and sources.

Grateful to @latimesopinion for taking this piece on Tomboys, trans boys and West Side Story. Mapping trans identities onto masculine females of yore, real or fictional, imposes modern interpretations onto history & removes models of gender nonconformity.

@assignedmedia I appreciate that you say you’re interested in truth. How do you reconcile the way the media reports this as a left/right issue when there’s so much reform in Europe that’s closer to what Republicans advocate for than what Democrats promote?

@chasestrangio @surlybassey For years you’ve been pushing reporters to censor. You’ve been lying about the research, using phrases like “life-saving.” I sat down with you, Chase, to understand your POV, but you’re a danger to children with gender distress and you need to let the whole story come out.

I'm honored to be on this list of people who stepped up. When I first gathered the nerve (and data) to report more honestly, I went to the outlets I'd worked with for years. None would take the pieces. Quillette did. They've helped lefty dissidents gather our courage and find our

But when liberal reporters & clinicians won't admit or talk about the reality of the low-quality evidence of gender-affirming care, & conservatives will, it gives the false impression that it's a left-right issue, & that discussing the science is bigoted instead of necessary.

This is an incredible list of people who've been punished for their views (and I've interviewed dozens more, afraid to speak because of such stories). Thanks @adamdavidson , who doesn't believe in cancel culture, for compiling this powerful evidence about its existence & harms.

Recently I've seen complex, nuanced articles on kids w/ gender dysphoria, almost all in non-MSM publications. Listed below (please add more). I've pitched similar articles to @nytimes @time @newrepublic @washingtonpost & other liberal press. All said no or said nothing. THEY KNOW

A post for parents of gender nonconforming kids. The more a child rejects gender roles, the better they do. Gender nonconformity is a gift. If your child is this way, you don’t need to fix them. They are perfect, just as they are. Let’s make room for them.

My message: There is no one right way to be a boy or girl — & these are biological, not social, categories. It’s important for scientific & medical reasons to recognize sex differences. You can be as masculine or feminine as you want to be or naturally are.

Is "gender identity" real? Does everyone have one? Do some people have one that mismatches their body? Not only are those questions unanswerable, but they distract from more important questions. Gender identity is a deeply flawed, misunderstood and mis-promoted idea.

desisters, the overlap of gender dysphoria and sexuality and so many other fascinating and important stories. Almost every place has said no, or just stopped communicating with me at all. I am so envious of staff writers who *could* be breaking the story of the century 2/

I said it was better she ask teachers, not me, because what I'd learned in six years of research was likely in opposition to what they were learning & I didn't want to make trouble for this child or mine. I call this: Lessons in Censorship or "Teaching what to think, not how."

If you're a gender-affirming clinician, I invite you to let detransitioners tell their stories to you and your colleagues, to see what you can learn from them and to prevent this kind of harm from happening to kids you serve. I'll set it up for you!

Just told my gay friend that Matthew Shepherd’s death wasn’t a hate crime. The friend looked at me like I’d committed a hate crime. Sent @bindelj ’s piece. Wonder if it’ll convince? Why is it so hard to shift the narrative?

I have something important to tell you about gender-affirming care, whatever side you're on. In the past few weeks, I've pitched many liberal/mainstream outlets. I don't want this information & history dismissed as "right wing." I've been declined or ignored. This needs to be

Here's a really important point for anyone writing or reporting about "gender-affirming care," and detransition—especially those who quote sources suggesting it's rare: NOBODY KNOWS THE DETRANSITION RATE. New paper!
