One thing I think that needs to be called out from last night was that Dan Hurley coached a helluva game. Switching to zone late in the second single-handedly kept the Huskies in this one. It may have been a top 3 coaching performance by him IMO.

I think a lot the criticism Val Ackerman gets on this site is unwarranted and undeserved but two things are true: 1) FOX did a subpar job promoting the conference all season. 2) The leagues that worked the committee the last few weeks were rewarded. Both of these things matter.

Periodic reminder that the 2014 was criminally under seeded by the committee because they played in the AAC. They still beat a No. 1 (the No. 1 overall seed in the tourney) a 2, 3 and 4, while trucking Cal’s Kentucky team in the final. The disrespect for this team is absurd.

The honest truth is this team hasn’t looked the same since conference play began. Playing the dregs of the league the first 3 games helped cover some of it up, but opponents have clearly figured this team out and the coaching staff needs to figure something out.

@TomPritchardFan 1) SMU is having a better year than DePaul. 2) DePaul drew 4200 people against Butler on March 3 when they were 0-18 in conference play, so I’m pretty sure the turnout would be much better than the couple hundred that showed up at Dickies last night.
