#OTD in 1876 Alexander Graham Bell was granted a patent for the telephone by the US Patent Office. ☎️ #DYK he also lodged a variation of this patent in Victoria? Interestingly, his Victorian application (Patent No 2473) was 'Refused'.

After a 16-year closure, The Ian Potter Queen's Hall will reopen to the public on Thursday 5 Dec. During restoration, layers of paint have been scraped back around the hall to reveal the original decorative paint scheme created by Edward La Trobe Bateman in 1859.
