Disappointing indeed. Targeted strikes within the borders of an invading state still amounts to defence. Ukraine and its allies must subject Putin to a strategic defeat. Imposing unnecessary caveats on Ukraine's defence of its very existence, is self-defeating.

This day in 2003, I was deployed with the RAF's Tactical Communications Wing in Iraq, when I learned that 6 RMP had been killed in an ambush in Majaar al Kabir. I have never forgotten the reaction of the young RMP woman beside me, when we heard. I remember.
