Liberalism is a social contract. It's a framework that makes it possible for people who fundamentally disagree to live together in peace. But it is founded on reciprocity. If my beliefs can be criticized, but your beliefs are sacrosanct, that's not liberalism - it's theocracy.

I find it curious that this poster, which @CTVNews describes as "colorful and thoughtful" & @Surrey_Schools hangs in their class, features such a young-looking female. & the quote is from the author of "DIY: The Wonderfully Weird History and Science of Masturbation" @ChanLPfa

This 'colourful and thought-provoking poster' explains to minors that the only difference between coal minors and prostitutes is our "moralistic view of sexuality". @CTVNews , @ohana_annie & @Surrey_Schools are "building really strong, empowered citizens"!

🇨🇦 is in trouble. Our leaders seek to address 'social conflict' by further stigmatizing/censoring speech. This will make things infinitely worse. Our instability doesn't emerge from mean comments, but from fundamentally incompatible worldviews that must urgently be discussed.

@CTVNews Way to completely miss the societal and moral significance of the issue, CTV. We will all sleep better being assured that, ‘yes’, much to the horror of Americans, crude, anti-meritocratic hiring is indeed the law of the land here.

This take is quite right. Subjective beliefs - beliefs not unreasonably characterized as spiritual or faith claims - are now enforced by law. And Canadians are forced by the power of law to feign fealty in public ceremonies that are very much like the prayers of days' past.

Shocking. The @FedCourt_CAN_en rather than standing above ideological conflict which at present is polarizing and dividing society has doubled down by allying itself with the "progressive" position on gender, pronouns and land acknowledgement. Where in Canada's constitution does

Some might think these "colorful and thoughtful posters" are influencing kids to adopt certain political beliefs”, as @ChanLPfa claims. But @CTVNews got the scoop from "researchers of the far right" and drawing such conclusions counts as "harassment" towards educators.

Stop using the term 'social justice' if what you mean is anti-westernism, the subversion of legal equality to collectivism, race fundamentalism, identity group scapegoating, or pushing contested dogma onto other people's children. Such views are neither 'social', nor 'just'.

@ChanLPfa @etfotorontoot This has to stop. Far too often today, 'progressivism' is used as a smokescreen by vitorloic people to engage in hateful acts. It should not be controversial to say there is no place for this in the public system.

“My favourite season is THE FALL Of CAPITALISM”, schools broadcast to our children. But don’t make the (hateful) mistake of thinking this is an anti-capitalist or (heaven forbid) “Marxist” b/c that’s all misinformation from the American far right. This is about “inclusion”.

We are right to be charitable to people who don't share our views, but let's be clear on what that means. It is charitable to understand that good people often arrive at bad conclusions, but it is cowardly, not "charitable", to be silent as bad ideas run roughshod over society.

This point should be engaged with more honestly. If not for Western norms, there is little historical evidence to suggest that slavery would become the moral abomination that it is rightfully seen as today. Freedom is largely a western value. We should celebrate that more.

Critical race theorists reliably strawman objections to their dogma. I am unaware of any group that objects to past discrimination being taught. What many object to is the mainstream notion that present discrimination (against innocent parties) is justified as a result of it.

Public education needs to be politically neutral, just like professional regulators should be. You don't get to use your powers over a captive cohort to push your ideology. Conservative governments need to rein this stuff in now, before our kids are all communist revolutionaries.

The reason I call out false narratives, even when they are sensitive, is because I don't share the 'misguided, but well-intended' view of 'woke'. I view 'woke' as a subtext for totalitarian government control that threatens every one of us. Elite myths must be challenged.
